Pura Vida Day Spa and Salon—whose name comes from the Costa Rican saying—is made up of stylists, massage therapists, and aestheticians that offer a variety of beautifying and pampering services. The staffers tend to hands and feet with manicures and pedicures or augmenting heads of hair with stylish cuts and color treatments. Other services include laser hair removal, facial treatments, and massages and body treatments.
A licensed cosmetologist since 1998, Yolanda Robinos specializes in cutting, coloring, and treating thinning hair, and is especially versatile when working with a large range of hair textures belonging to different ethnicities. At Yolanda Robinos Hair Designs at LV Glamour, she draws from this versatility and emphasis on healthy hair to bring a new look to her clients. She also offers color consultations in order to glean exactly what look her clients are aiming for so she can construct a style and look that best fits their personal style and lifestyle.
What is one of your signature services? How is it performed?
The Keratin Complex Smoothing Therapy by Coppola. Humidity is a huge problem in Texas and [the therapy] eliminates 95%–100% of frizz. The best time to do it is after any color service. After washing hair, it's blow dried and the product is applied to the whole head. Once it sits for a short time, your hair is once again blow dried then flat ironed. A common misconception is that you lose your volume—not true! We even offer free test strands.
Do you offer your customers any extra perks?
We offer beverages and wine, a variety of reading material, and flexible appointments. We also have a fun atmosphere with friendly and one-of-a-kind service!
When and how did you first develop a passion for your work?
I started doing my friends' hair for homecoming and prom in high school, so I had the passion even before I became licensed. The feeling you have when you leave with a new look you love is unlike any other. The fact that I can can give women that boost of confidence every day is why I'm excited to go to work.
Anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
We are a full-service salon covering all areas in hair, skin, and nails. We offer what the bigger city salons offer but without the drive and increased costs!

Turquoise furniture and salvaged doors with distressed paint create a chic Bohemian vibe inside the salon.
Within Salon 515Oh, stylist Connie Purpura helps clients to achieve the look they desire. She draws on skills learned at Ogle School while precisely snipping locks into edgy or classic cuts, infusing hair with rich color, or smoothing tresses with keratin blowouts. Patrons also can opt for professionally applied cosmetics, waxing, or manicures.
Krystal Dees of Lashes & Locks wields her styling expertise over curly and straight hair, and every texture in between. She sets to work in a salon and spa that, in addition to offering hair treatments, also provides clients with skin care services such as facials, body wraps, and tanning. To cap off new looks, the team applies mink and synthetic extensions to eyelashes, drawing attention to faces and away from vestigial tails.
