The Generous Garden Project works to combat hunger in local communities by growing a steady supply of fresh produce, which it donates to local ministries and food banks. Volunteers plant and harvest vegetables in a 4.5-acre garden in Greenville, and share their skills by teaching others how to grow their own fruit and vegetables. Local farmers also call upon The Generous Garden Project’s volunteers to glean crops that would otherwise be left to rot in the fields or be plowed after a harvest.
For its 50th annual celebration, the Southern Home and Garden Show is showcasing more than 250 exhibitors representing the latest in functional design for home and landscape needs. Visitors can grab a map and explore a 41,000-square-foot maze filled with home furnishings and appliances, including countertops by Star Granite Interiors, backyard grills by the Holland Grill Company, kitchen appliances by Jeff Lynch, garage doors by Carolina Windows and Doors, and a slew of interior-design furnishings and electronics.

Since 1976, American Dance Club's instructors—some of whom spent time stomping the boards in Broadway spectaculars—have transformed students into fancy footworkers. During 30- or 60-minute private and group lessons, teachers two-step pupils through the fundamentals of social dances such as ballroom, Argentine tango, country western, and shag, a style of swing that generally ends with dancers hiding their dropped partners in rolled-up carpets. After perfecting their moves in the encouraging one-on-one sessions, guests can strut their stuff during dance parties every Friday night from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
