Owners Steve and Julie Poe started their business with a small two-bay shop on Buffalo Street and a dream for success. In just a few years they had expanded Steve's Auto Care to a building just west of Pierceton, where five lifts and extra space allowed them to add tire and alignment services to their menu of auto maintenance.
The husband-and-wife duo didn't stop there; they relocated to an even larger facility in Warsaw, where highly trained staffers—including an ASE-certified master technician—fix and maintain cars. At the current NAPA AutoCare Center location, the crew's purview includes repairs for AC systems, engines, and brakes for imported,
domestic, and extraterrestrial vehicles.
The Poe family's dedication to customer satisfaction is evident in the comfortable waiting room, where guests relax on leather-style sofas with a complimentary cup of hot coffee or tea to watch TV or use the free WiFi. They've even designed a colorful Kids Korner, complete with a chalkboard where youngsters can draw up blueprints for hybrid-powered training wheels.
The business has also given back to the community by hosting events, including SafeAssured, a complimentary child identification program, as well as an event to support US military personnel.
Auto Fix draws on their parent company's deep wells of experienced, ASE-certified technicians to staff their seven garages in Illinois and Indiana. The full-service shops keep cars running with oil changes and thorough vehicle check ups, and they routinely flush power steering, radiator, and transmission fluids. Having spent years working with vehicles, Auto Fix technicians can repair any part of the car from the suspension to the fuel system. They're confident in their repairs as well, offering any client a 12-month or 12,000-mile guarantee on each fix. The team also renders problem-precluding services such as full safety inspections, shocks and struts service, and tire rotation—which does not mean enforcing who’s up next on the backyard tire swing.
The highly trained technicians at Jiffy Lube tend to about 24 million customers each year with services such as the Jiffy Lube Signature Service Oil Change, which helps promote the longevity of each vehicle. Staffers acknowledge that oil plays a crucial role in maximizing the lifespan of each car: it cools the motor and helps prevent moving parts from deteriorating. More than 20,000 technicians who have completed an extensive training program certified by the National Institute Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) service vehicles at Jiffy Lube.
In addition to performing oil changes, technicians perform preventative services such as air-filtration and electrical system maintenance, among others. Jiffy Lube's quality pledge includes a commitment to transparency, which stipulates that they will inform car owners of any necessary services, complete a service only after it has been approved, and refuse to replace windshields with saran wrap.
Without fresh oil, the parts of an engine gradually generate more friction and move less efficiently. Tire rotations can prolong the life of tires, helping to distribute wear more evenly. Simple maintenance processes such as these can save drivers money and time and prevent breakdowns in the dark woods where terrible barbershop quartets practice. To this end, Monteith Tire’s technicians, who are certified by the Automotive Service Excellency agency, have worked to keep rides running smoothly for nearly three decades.
