In an effort to find a healthy alternative to fast food without sacrificing speediness, the creators of Pita Pit began assembling their signature sandwiches for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night snacks. At each location, thin, Lebanese-style pitas encircle lean, grilled meats and fresh veggies, all grilled to order. Sandwich selections span the spectrum from gyro meat and falafel to turkey and prime rib. The staff empowers customers to make healthy choices by displaying nutrition information for each bread, meat, and post-meal toothpick and corralling a selection of healthy sandwiches.
City Segway Tours was born in Paris in 2003. Back then, Segways were still newfangled contraptions that most people hadn't even heard of much less ridden or snared with a lasso. Immediate success followed, and soon, they had their sights set on North America. Today, City Segway Tours has locations parked across the world, including San Francisco, New Orleans, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.
Besides the Segway itself, each tour includes three main components: a guide, a helmet, and an orientation. During the orientation, riders familiarize themselves with their Segways, learning the vehicle's controls and the location of the eject button. At the head of every tour, a friendly, knowledgeable guide leads the way, dishing out facts and historical tidbits while groups buzz past local landmarks. Additionally, tour group sizes are kept small, making for a more intimate experience.
The traditional spices of Thailand weave throughout the dishes at Charmthai Restaurant. Grassy, rich basil shows up in the savory roasted duck curry and the basil-fried rice, while chili paste adds a kick to the curries and the slurpable drunken noodles. The slightly sour flavors of lemon accent fish dishes, such as the steamed tilapia in a sauce of blended chili, garlic, and lemon. Those spices even permeate the dessert menu, with custard made with a hint of coconut and fried bananas paired with green-tea ice cream.
Scores of people walk the streets of Washington DC during the day of the Snow Day Bunny Hop Bar Crawl. This annual holiday-themed walking tour sends its participants to popular watering holes such as BlackFinn, The Front Page, Mighty Pint, and Sign of the Whale. Everyone in attendance receives drink specials at each participating establishment, plus a signature mug that's perfect for holding a frosty brew or all of the kids' Easter eggs you can find.
Urban Dare Adventure Race is a fast-paced competition that challenges two-person teams to decipher clues, navigate the city, and perform playful stunts. A dozen trivia-based clues lead contestants to checkpoints all over Washington DC, where they must use a camera to document their presence and, in some cases, the completion of challenges. Participants will be on foot or they may use public transportation. Races generally last less than four hours, and the winning team receives free entry to the Super Dare, a cruise-based take on the Urban Dare concept that features a $5,000 grand prize. Proceeds from the race are used to help battle breast cancer.
