What started as a 25-truck gathering in a small parking lot, the Mobile Food Rodeo has grown into an annual, multi-day celebration of small business and on-the-move eateries. Since that first powwow, the Rodeo has become one of the country's largest festivals of its kind, roping in up to 40 food trucks per event. In 2013 alone, more than 87,000 people dispersed through Seattle's neighborhoods?Capitol Hill, South Lake Union, and Fremont?to experience new flavors, all while avoiding having to thumb wrestle for a table at a restaurant. The Mobile Food Rodeo does more than just fill bellies, though, since it acts as a showcase for new culinary talents and creates a vibrant marketplace for small businesses to share their talents.

What once began as a gerontology master’s project soon became a time-saving solution for homeowners across the country. In 2000, Spectrum founder and physical therapist Jenny Nelson became alarmed by the number of senior citizens she met with injuries caused by doing work around their homes. While pursuing her degree in gerontology, she made it her master’s project to found a care company that assisted seniors living on their own with tasks that weren’t simply health related. Soon thereafter, Spectrum Home Services was born and became Nelson’s life’s work.

By 2008, when Hal and Jeanette Fairless opened the Pacific Northwest franchise, Spectrum had grown to serve everyone, regardless of age or presence of free cake in the home. Spectrum’s original focus is still seen in its handyman services, through which techs specialize in building wheelchair ramps, installing grab bars and lifts, and performing ADA bathroom modifications. Cleaning crews come out weekly, biweekly, monthly, or as needed to tidy up living spaces, and organization specialists help remove clutter from busy lives. For local moves or seniors transferring to an alternative living facility, Spectrum’s relocation team will plan the project from start to finish.

Organic apples, grapes, and naseberries layer atop paprika inside All About U’s studio—but this concoction isn’t meant to be eaten. These natural, organic ingredients are used to deeply exfoliate skin—the powerful combo of natural fruit acids, detoxifiers, and oxygen boosters leaves faces smooth and glowing. The rejuvenating, exfoliating AHA facial is just one of All About U’s custom treatments, all of which use specific blends of organic fruits, herbs, and spices to meet each client’s unique skin needs. All About U’s staff also removes hair through waxing, sugaring, and mind control, and massages, reiki treatments, and infrared-sauna sessions encourage the release of tension. :m]]

The team at Modernized Exteriors helps homes reach their full potential by boosting their curb appeal. Their designs meld form and function, with new windows forged from wood, aluminum, vinyl, or other materials. The construction experts specialize in roofs as well, and they install shingles and gutters. For a complete overhaul, they even build additions to homes, including decks and sunrooms. The team can also venture indoors, where they design and install lighting, sinks, and home appliances that become sentient and reset the family's WiFi password.
