The supportive instructors at Otto's Fine Art Academy work closely with blossoming artists to build upon foundational drawing and painting skills and encourage creativity. In small classes for children, teens, and adults, the studio teaches students to work with materials ranging from basic pencils to more advanced watercolors, pastels, and oil paints. The instructors pride themselves on giving one-on-one attention, and allow students to work at their own pace as they strive toward their own goals, such as finishing a landscape painting or winning a game of tic-tac-toe. Week-long summer camps follow specific themes that can included outdoor art, impressionism, and Picasso-inspired monsters.
At Healing Forest Studio, founder and former university art professor Lori Slocomb blends multiple artistic styles into one unique, accessible curriculum. Having lived in both New York and L.A., Lori has experienced first-hand the artistic differences that separate the coasts. She aspires to bridge that gap by sharing both conceptual and technical schools of thought with her students, as she and her team of instructors join forces to offer professional, college-grade drawing and painting classes. Lori also takes pride in the open atmosphere and positive energy of her studio, which makes beginner-level and veteran artists alike feel welcome.

When John A. Horning started his real-estate company out of his home in 1946, it would have been difficult to imagine how successful it would become. Stretching across 12 counties, Shorewest Realtors employs more than 1,400 individuals today, helping to supply the needs of Wisconsin property sellers and buyers. In addition to their regular real-estate responsibilities, Shorewest also offers classes for real-estate agent and broker licenses, readying students to take their state exams or just fit in at real-estate parties.
In the 15 years since its opening, Adventure Rock has upheld its objective of granting guests of all ages and experience levels a chance to learn how to climb. The staff meticulously maintains amenities including 12,000 square feet of textured climbing surfaces and bouldering caves. Sculpted arêtes and cracks challenge forearms as intrepid wall-climbers chart a course up colored pathways to seek council with the sentient ductwork at the faux mountain's 35-foot peak. Under the helm of experienced instructors, students learn the ins and outs of ascension via climbing classes. As climbers scramble upward on more than 40 top ropes, air-conditioning keeps faux mountainsides from awkwardly perspiring geode sweat drops. While the indoor facility offers a controlled environment in which to learn and practice, Adventure Rock’s staff also unleashes patrons’ inner adventurers via private outdoor climbing classes held at Devil’s Lake as well as portable rock wall rentals for all manner of party or event.
Midwest Carry Academy's shooting experts aim to imbue students in three states with the skills needed to responsibly bear arms. The instructors' backgrounds range from the NRA to law enforcement to military, and they draw on these experiences to teach handgun courses. In these classes, teachers help both entry-level and advanced shooters hone their skills, master efficiency, and transition smoothly into cinematic slow motion. Additionally, the instructors themselves continuously take new courses to further develop their skills as booth teachers and gun handlers.
