Though Terri Watson specializes in dog grooming, her expertise extends to daycare, overnight boarding, and industry-grade belly rubs. She allows visiting pups to do as they please, whether it’s jumping on couches, fetching toys, or napping in a comfy bed. In addition to providing a safe, clean place for dogs to hang out while they wait for their masters to return, Terri strives to help her canine boarders burn off excess energy and socialize with other dogs.

Due to their curious nature, dogs often come home dirty, whether from chasing squirrels through muddy fields or disassembling your car's transmission. Community Bark Dog Wash & Coffee Bar's dual locations provide specially designed stations for washing dogs of all sizes, whether for self-service sudsing or full-service washing by friendly groomers. The cleaners furnish all the tools needed to groom pups to perfection, including shampoos, conditioners, brushes, combs, and high-velocity hair dryers.

Whether returning from a walk or waiting for their pooch to dry, pet lovers can hang out in the dog-friendly Barker Lounge, where they can sip Alterra coffee and munch on pastries. The café also supplies treats for canine customers and free WiFi service for laptops and bark-activated phones.

Angie Schuldies and Nate Mathis have always loved having pet dogs and cats. Eventually, they extended their care and attention to animals outside their homes by working with rescue groups and fostering dogs. This consistent volunteerism fueled their vision of one day owning a doggy daycare—a dream realized by The Dog Haus. During daytime sessions, pups romp together in an indoor play area supervised by animal-loving caretakers. Besides overseeing the fun, the staff trains furry companions, working to refine their manners and social skills, such as mastering a firm pawshake while maintaining eye contact.

For dogs needing overnight accommodation, the boarding program available at their 410 Atlas Avenue location welcomes them to socialize and exercise during the day and snooze in a private kennel at night. Larger kennels can accommodate family packs. Additional services include petsitting, transportation, and grooming.

Though she's a relatively recent inductee to the club of "dog people"—adopting the first of her two canine kids in 2009—Kate de Felice has quickly attuned herself to pooches’ needs. With an arsenal of organic shampoos, she cleanses each pet’s skin and coat before toweling them dry by hand, keeping the bath time as gentle as possible. Kate's subsequent grooming sessions include a variety of localized spruce-ups—including nail trimming, ear cleaning, teeth brushing, and elegant beehive hairdos—each of which she also offers à la carte.

Zoom Room?s dog training facilities have one cardinal rule: owners must be present during class. This is because humans need just as much training as their canine companions when building confidence and communication, and it?s important that owners learn the best positive-reinforcement techniques from the knowledgeable staff. Group classes cover topics ranging from general obedience and agility training to more specific needs such as overcoming shyness. Other classes include Urban Herding, where dogs herd exercise balls into soccer goals indoors, Scent Work, where dogs learn to sniff out missing car keys or the TV remote, and Pup-lates, which is geared toward overweight or senior dogs, or those recovering from an injury.

In fact, improving canine social skills is one of Zoom Room?s missions, as evidenced by the regularly hosted fundraiser events and Doggy Disco parties, which give dogs a chance to meet other dogs and expand away from their inner circle of fire hydrants. This combination of training and fun, in addition to the facility?s selection of solution-oriented training gear, natural dog treats, and functional dog accessories, has garnered an array of local and national press.
