Aisha Khalid opened her first women-only salon and spa in 1994 and has since expanded her beautifying services to 10 family-owned locations. The business specializes in haircare, herbal facials, henna tattoos, threading, and body waxing, which, despite its name, is not the creation of a wax statue of Marilyn Monroe, Abe Lincoln, or Abe’s torso on Marilyn’s legs. The salon is open every day of the week, accommodating clients with various schedules, and the staff takes pride in being friendly and maintaining a clean atmosphere.
An enthusiastic and passionate stylist, Michol approaches each client with their individuality in mind. That’s why he keeps 93 colors always within reach, mixing and matching to create subtle hues and shine that belong solely to the client he’s working on. Having trained under Thomas LaDage, a platform artist that performed demonstrations at industry shows, he understands how to work with complex treatments to create the right look that flatters clients’ facial symmetry, complexion, eye color, or the vase their hand is currently stuck in. When performing services such as updos or chemical straightening, he also relies on his knowledge and expert application of hair products from brands such as Paul Brown, which are made with Hawaiian plants and flowers that contain healing and replenishing properties.
At Shehla's Beauty Salon & Spa, a friendly face greets customers right as they walk through the door. After sipping on complimentary cups of soothing hot tea in the waiting area, clients are eventually led back their styling stations, where hair artists get to work performing customized cuts and color treatments. More than just a destination for haircare, the salon space also achieves spa-like status thanks to service offerings such as waxing, threading, facials, and massages.
