The 90- to 120-minute Discover Scuba course introduces the inexperienced diver to underwater breathing. The lesson is taught by a professional instructor who will equip each student with the proper gear and the proper knowledge to use the proper gear. After the pre-dive lesson, you'll get acclimated to the new breathing method and dive into the Manhattan Plaza pool, located just above the Pan Aqua storefront. Underwater, you'll get a feel for aqueous immersion while learning about dive basics and safety practices. Bring along your own bathing suit, towel, and a lock for your possessions.
With Scuba Network's Discover Scuba class, aspiring sea-divers can get a quick taste of what it's like to don advanced scuba gear and navigate the water. Whether you're curious about the marine justice league or wish to erect an underwater general store before the impending kelp rush, an introductory scuba class is an easy and effective way to decide whether submarine life is right for you. You'll flipper through Scuba Network's safe and controlled pool environment with a professional, helpful instructor. With the scuba sage dishing out useful, hands-on tutoring, you'll learn the basics of the underwater hobby and be on your way to diving several leagues under the sea. The deal also includes all gear except for a bathing suit and a towel, so there's no need to hastily overbid on Jacques Cousteau's original mermaid suit.
For many, the depths of the world's oceans and lakes are places so unfamiliar they might as well be on another planet. For the team of experienced, thrill-seeking instructors at Adventure Scuba, however, they're just another place to explore. With one of these coaches for each three to four students on a pool dive, the PADI Five-Star IDC center leads any student aged 10 years and older into the underwater world through various classes focused on hands-on instruction. A PADI open-water certification course uses the controlled environment of the center's 90 degree pool to introduce basic equipment use and techniques, giving students the skills necessary to continue their training in local waters or recreate Jacques Cousteau's bachelor party.
In the warmer months, the center also offers a range of specialty dive certifications, such as advanced and rescue diving; it also hosts year-round classroom courses in Enriched Air Diving, CPR and first aid. Though Adventure Scuba provides much of its training equipment to students at no additional cost, its dive shop sells essential diving gear by manufacturers such as Oceanic, Henderson and ScubaPro.
Spanning the eastern shores of the U.S. from New York to Florida, Scuba Network’s staff has overseen thousands of completed scuba certifications throughout its eight locations. Group NAUI certification courses keep learning to dive simple with a three-step process that includes online academic training, pool sessions, and open-water dives with sharks that have had their teeth removed by a dentist. Staffers supplement dives with know-how on equipment, from masks and snorkels to underwater cameras.
