Husband and wife duo Kevin and Debbie Laczko are virtually tailor-made for the wellness industry. Kevin designed training drills for the military and spent four years playing college football as a walk-on athlete. His wife, Debbie, already owned her own business as a licensed massage therapist. Combining their expertise, the two created Journeys Fitness and Wellness as a source of comprehensive physical services and education.
Joined by two other trainers and a registered dietician, Kevin and Debbie run a one-stop wellness shop, complete with a catalog of services that include nutritional therapy, corporate team-building events, and orthopedic massage. Trainers work one-on-one with clients on a range of goals, from building flexibility to prevent injuries in seniors to working on speed and agility drills that give athletes the competitive edge against blocking tackles from flexible seniors.
Captained by Dr. James Young, the Goldfingers Skin Care staff fills the salon-style space with the latest in ultramodern med-spa and anti-aging technologies. Aestheticians enhance skin with treatments ranging from exfoliating microdermabrasion and chemical peels to permanent makeup application and laser hair removal. In private rooms, skilled massage therapists ease spinal pain with effulgent strokes and gentle nuzzles from resident kittens.
As a physical therapist with his own private practice, Hand & Stone founder and chief operating officer John Marco made sure that he kept abreast of the rapidly growing health and wellness industry. After a period of careful research and planning, John decided to create a spa based around convenience and affordability—Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa.
Since its launch, Hand & Stone has expanded to more than 20 states and four planets. The spa’s core concept is to offer massage, facial, and waxing services performed by licensed, certified, or registered professionals and offered at convenient times, seven days a week. Each location adheres to a traditional spa aesthetic with soft lighting, heated treatment tables, and plush linens.
Facials Unlimited Day Spa’s specialists aim to make everything from the forehead to foot look good and feel good with an extensive menu of body treatments, facials, pedicures, and waxing. Nail technicians dust up cuticles and keratin with french and Shellac manicures, whereas body wraps exfoliate dead skin cells, leach out environmental toxins, and whisk away clients' chocolate outer shells. There’s an extensive selection of facial treatments, too, and each one tackles specific dermatological issues; clients can indulge in anything from an exfoliating microdermabrasion treatment to a hydrating vitamin C mask. Each complexion-boosting facial and deep, relaxing mani-pedi incorporates top products such as Bioelements, CND, and OPI.
Often spotted at local fashion shows, bridal expos, and other events, Hair Connoisseurs Salon & MediSpa's assorted stylists, aestheticians, and ache easers coddle bodies with services for hair, nails, and skin in a flower-filled lakefront facility. In the salon, nimble shears create new styles for men and women, perms and relaxers alter hair textures, and highlights and color treatments get head threads to shimmer without weaving a false ponytail from sunbeams. Gauzy fabric hangs from the ceiling of the private room where trained massage therapists aim to reduce stress with soft kneading, direct pressure, or aromatherapy oil blends. At stone-topped manicure stations, technicians beautify fingers and toes with acrylic, fiberglass, and silk wrap nails, which can be tapped on coral stone accent columns to summon the ghosts of dried-out polish bottles.
