Husband and wife duo Kevin and Debbie Laczko are virtually tailor-made for the wellness industry. Kevin designed training drills for the military and spent four years playing college football as a walk-on athlete. His wife, Debbie, already owned her own business as a licensed massage therapist. Combining their expertise, the two created Journeys Fitness and Wellness as a source of comprehensive physical services and education.
Joined by two other trainers and a registered dietician, Kevin and Debbie run a one-stop wellness shop, complete with a catalog of services that include nutritional therapy, corporate team-building events, and orthopedic massage. Trainers work one-on-one with clients on a range of goals, from building flexibility to prevent injuries in seniors to working on speed and agility drills that give athletes the competitive edge against blocking tackles from flexible seniors.
Whether guests are in the mood for a slice of pizza, a hot sub, or a hearty Italian meal, the chefs at Christopher’s Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria can match every craving. The eatery also adds a sports bar element to the mix, with daily happy-hour specials that complement the big game better than an in-house marching band.
Most of the CPR-certified instructors at Central Florida Paddleboarding grew up exploring central Florida's myriad bodies of water. They use their firsthand, intimate knowledge of the region to lead group standup-paddleboard excursions through waterways such as New Smyrna Beach, Wekiva River, and Lake Fairview. As they paddle past banks flush with mangroves or beaches lined with palm trees, the crew points out manatees, turtles, and other various forms of alleged wildlife. Trained in water safety, they also teach paddleboarding with one-on-one personal instruction, rent and sell paddleboards, organize summer camps, and maintain balance during on-the-water birthday parties.
The licensed, bonded, and insured team of 4 Sons Restoration restores floors with a four-step process. First, the team pretreats with a nontoxic, eco-friendly cleanser to break up grime. Then it applies up to 3,000 PSI of water pressure to tough areas and follows that up with more than 200 degrees of heat. Lastly, cleaners vacuum to soak up all the soil and dirty water, leaving behind like-new floors. They can use this same process on both residential and commercial tile floors, and also extend their cleaning services to carpets, counter tops, decks, patios, and more.
Regardless of whether or not golfers agree with his teaching philosophies, few could argue that Dan Spiegel isn’t a wellspring of information. Most instructors keep their communications safely within the tee-to-green framework, but Dan prefers to branch out: he uses his academy’s website not only as a place to list golf pointers and tips, but also as a place to discuss an ecclectic mix of topics, from his views on modern media to his take on the sports news of the day.
Dan’s teaching methods are as wide-ranging as his interests. Typically, he uses whatever means his student deems most comfortable, whether that means encouraging them to play by feel or react to a more scientific breakdown of mechanics. Regardless of the approach, the overarching theme of his lessons—which occur both on the range and out on the course at Lake Orlando Golf Club—is to turn the players’ weaknesses into strengths.
