Founded by Helena and Elie Cohen—a master colorist and stylist, respectively—Ardan Medspa + Salon has earned recurring coverage in publications such as Allure and Boston Common and a variety of Best of Boston awards from Boston Magazine for five straight years. Within the salon, the duo and fellow stylists treat manes to designer cuts, color treatments, and other hair services.
Under a physician's guidance, Clinical Director Susan Fallon and her team also use advanced products in their med-spa services, such as the DermaSweep clinical facial that deeply exfoliates without the crystals of microdermabrasion or the chemical solutions of a peel. Further med-spa services include Vaser, and SmartLipo, the latest medical innovations for body sculpting and fat removal.
The studio surrounds guests with relaxing, warm tones and curved lines that create a sweeping, upward energy, encouraging visitors to release their stress and any helium-filled balloons they carried in.
Dr. Yi Luo’s grandfather spent his 97 years of life helping those with medical needs. And for the past 15 years, Dr. Luo has continued his legacy by healing patients with alternative therapies, such as cupping, tui na massage, noninsertion acupuncture, and herbal medicine.
Courtney and Corey Nappa complement each other’s skill sets well. Courtney has a wealth of business experience and a passion for beauty, and Corey has years under his belt as a personal trainer and fitness-center manager. They realized that they could combine their skills into an ideal health-club experience, and Ten X Club was born.
On the fitness end of the business, instructors hold group Pilates, yoga, and spin classes. Cardio and weight-lifting rooms feature equipment from manufacturers such as Nautilus and Precor. A kids’ playroom keeps tykes entertained while parents shed sweat. On the other end of the spectrum, the sleekly appointed salon features hair services, mani-pedis, and spray-tanning services in a quiet environment, the air perfumed with the scent of hair products. Here, too, members can send their kids to the playroom while they enjoy grownup relaxation time with beautifying services, adult conversation, and the freedom to eat animal crackers any way they choose.
Lorrie Eyberg's first massage experience sparked something in her. She eventually enrolled in massage school, a move that led her to one day create Achelois Wellness Massage & Spa. Eyberg named the studio after the Greek word achelois, which means "she who drives away pain." At her studio, Eyberg and her staff perform therapeutic massages in a candlelit treatment room to the accompaniment of soft music that never features a chorus of yowling alley cats. This relaxing atmosphere paves the way for a tension-melting massage, which they often supplement with clinical techniques that Eyberg says spur detoxification and strengthen the immune system.
Tropez Aveda Salon and Spa splits its 4,000-square-foot facility right down the middle, dedicating itself equally to both sides of its name. From head to toe, the company's staff caters to each client's appearance, health, and relaxation, oftentimes turning to Aveda products to aid in fulfilling that mission. In the salon, stylists snip and rearrange hair, and nearby, nail stations refresh hands and feet. Massages, facials, and hydrotherapy treatments join forces to blitz stress in the med spa, which combines medical precision with relaxation more effectively than playing a game of Operation in a hot tub.
