Whether they're photographing a wedding, a birthday party, or a business event, Brian Dinius and Rachel Campbell make the same guarantee: your images will be ready—and edited—within 24 hours. The duo combines their computer, marketing, and picture-taking expertise into an efficient process that preserves memorable moments, both in the San Francisco Bay and Los Angeles areas.
The bride stood under the photographer’s lights, resplendent in her wedding gown, as her family looked on from a distance. As she and her photographer, M. Chen, prepared for the shoot, she was handed a package—a prewedding gift from her soon-to-be husband. When she lifted the lid, she immediately burst into tears. Inside laid a photo of a great dane puppy—the dog she’d always wanted, which her husband planned to give her on their wedding day. As she ran to hug her mother, Mr. Chen ran after, shooting image after image, capturing the exact moment she fell into her mother’s arms. These quick reflexes have been honed through his nearly 30 years as a sports photographer and professional fly swatter, and he draws on photojournalistic techniques to compose a traditional portrait or snap once-in-a-lifetime, candid moments.
Regardless of specific approaches, he consistently draws from the landscape style of Ansel Adams and the dramatic lighting techniques of Monte Zucker. His work as a photojournalist and private portrait photographer has earned him more than 300 publications in the glossy pages of New York Daily News, Popular Photography, ESPN Magazine, and Professional Photographers of America magazine. When not snapping on-location engagement shoots, family portraits, or boudoir sessions, he passes on his technique through traveling photography seminars, hands-on workshops, and by gently tapping the heads of his students. Though formerly designed only for professional-level photographers, these classes instill confidence and camera basics in beginners. As he frequently finds new class examples and takes feedback from his students, Mr. Chen frequently fine-tunes the curriculum after each seminar.
There is no one size fits all when it comes to boudoir photography. That's why before every shoot, the all-female crew at Little Secret Studio conducts personal consultations, during which clients discuss photo packages, settle on their ideal aesthetic, and plan their shoot for a professional studio setting, an outdoor location, or the silky sheets of a luxury hotel. On the day of the shoot, clients may go through two to six outfits and up to two different hairstyles, all furnished by Little Secret Studio's professional styling team. Under professional guidance, clients pose in provocative, flattering angles as the photographer snaps vivid color or black-and-white shots of solo women or couples. Clients preview their shots one or two weeks after the shoot and can opt for their retouched images in the form of a disc, print, canvas and/or Little Secret Black Book. Though boudoir photography is the studio’s specialty, Lifestyle Portrait packages are available to capture life's more PG moments.
Felicity Christopher sees the world through a kaleidoscope of colorful shapes and personalities. Armed with her Canon camera, she roams weddings and special events such as live music shows, capturing the emotions of the moment in sharp, vibrant images. Whether she's working outdoors or in the studio, her mastery of lighting lends perfection to family gatherings or fashion shoots of the sun in Versace. Fine-art photography is in her repertoire as well, and she applies that commitment to craft to each and every session.
Spinning Images alleviates at least some wedding-day anxiety by tackling two major aspects: the photos and the music. The DJ-photographer team not only snaps photos before, during, and after the ceremony, but also sets the soundtrack for the reception. This includes bringing the entire sound system and special-effects lighting.
Though the professional photo squad at Li’l Darlins didn't invent the camera, that doesn't mean they won't invent it someday. Put their nurturing directorial skills and 25 years of experience to the test by having them coax natural smiles out of your newborn, soon-to-be mom, high-school senior, pets, or family. Specializing in children, these pros can find the stateliest pose in even the most rambunctious wee-bro or the hidden exuberance in the shyest lass. Because the immense print package will net more photos than you know what to do with, Li’l Darlins will kindly combine them into one creative montage of your family towering over itself or perhaps hovering over its own shoulder.
