What's the most radical physical transformation you've seen a client make?
I have had clients transform not only physically but mentally and emotionally, and [some have] beat illness through exercise and nutrition. We have had a significant drop in weight and body fat in both men and women who have been committed and stuck to our program. Every one is different ... we specialize in personalized service and keep you accountable and on track. We are not focused on the number on the scale—we are focused on sharing our knowledge that this is a lifestyle, not a fad. We push for natural decreases in weight and body fat through hard work and commitment. There are no shortcuts, this is your body, and to learn how to make it work at it's natural potential is what we provide. You will see increased stamina, endurance, self-confidence, weight loss, body-fat reduction, drops in clothing sizes, strength, flexibility, and more. Who doesn't want to feel the best they have ever felt?
Do you run your gym according to a particular exercise philosophy?
We want your experience to be fun yet challenging. We want you to leave knowing that you gave your all and you were pushed to your own limits. This is not a competition; this is a safe zone for all fitness levels and genders to come and work hard in an environment full of support, encouragement, and high energy. Instructor Mark Cox of America's Best Krav Maga imparts potentially life-saving self-defense techniques to students of all ages. Developed for the Israeli military, this style of self-defense takes a "by any means necessary" approach, teaching its pupils how to disarm opponents and use surroundings to their advantage. Cox walks students through combinations of strikes, take-downs, and joint locks designed to stymie assailants of any size or strength.
Krav maga is one of the fastest growing self-defense training programs in the world, and for good reason. The official martial-arts system of the Israeli Defense Forces is based on the idea that anyone—no matter the size or physical build—can successfully defend their own life.
The certified instructors at Americas Best Krav Maga Family Self Defense Centers are serious about helping students learn effective self-defense techniques. Aside from standard classes for adults and children, they teach specialized courses in women's self-defense and police and military defense. There are even fitness classes that use disciplines such as kickboxing as a jumping-off point for a punishing workout. At the spacious and functional facility, bags hang from the ceiling and mirrors line the walls, helping to keep students in proper form as they learn to punch, jab, and steal their opponents' noses.
Indoor cycling takes center stage at this new fitness studio where classes are tailored to suit all ages and fitness levels. Spinning for 50-minutes, classes take place aboard Keiser M3 bikes, which can be adjusted to mimic flat roads and hills. This allows riders to get a full-body workout that is particularly effective at strengthening legs and midsections, with sessions set to upbeat music to keep the atmosphere fun.
While cycling is the obvious focus here, it's not the only thing CycleTRaX has to offer. TRX classes utilize a suspension strap system, which users use to move through a variety of exercises designed to increase mobility, boost flexibility, and tone limbs. For even better results, students can combine these exercises by incorporating kettle bell squats, performing arm movements with battle ropes, or by bench-pressing their instructors.
For Dori Peskin, spinning isn't just an exercise: it's the foundation of a newly healthy lifestyle. After cycling her way to sustainable fitness, she knew she wanted to give others the same opportunity. So, she became a trainer herself, parlaying certification by Schwinn and Madd Dog into a new profession. Now, more than 13 years later, she leads the experienced trainers at Crank - Addictive Cycling & Fitness. Her team pushes students to relieve stress, build muscles, and improve their endurance from atop a stationary bike while creating a high-energy atmosphere that motivates students to work their hardest.
