The Fitness Experience’s team of personal trainers, group fitness instructors, and wellness specialists work together to help clients achieve goals ranging from overhauling their bodies to learning to meditate. Personal trainers can meet one-on-one with clients to demonstrate the correct form for exercises or to recommend group fitness classes held within the 24-hour-access gym. Classes include Gospel Jam dance-fitness classes set to Christian music, as well as meditation and balance sessions designed to help the body work in tandem with the mind, rather than starting to break dance whenever the brain thinks about Citizen Kane. In addition to weight-loss programs and fitness classes, the team at The Fitness Experience helps guests relax in the full-service spa, which offers massages, tanning services, and body wraps.
When Dan Ritchie and Cody Sipe opened Miracles Fitness, they knew they wanted to keep it small enough to offer clients a personalized experience while getting fit. But that doesn?t mean their aim was small. Both men have earned a PhD, and all of the trainers have four-year university degrees in health and fitness. The multitude of knowledge shines through during one-on-one or small group workouts that utilize treadmills, elliptical machines, plyometric boxes, resistance bands, weighted medicine balls, and dumbbells. Trainers also offer nutritional advice that helps clients follow a balanced diet steeped in lean protein, fresh produce, and scolding of all baby fat.
A seasoned runner might consider Centurion Mud Challenge’s course to be modest in length—it’s only 5–7 miles—but they shouldn’t assume it's a cakewalk. The course meanders through the muddy terrain at the Badlands Off Road Park and is complicated by more than 30 obstacles designed to test agility, endurance, solidarity with fellow runners, and shoelace-tying ability. Five dollars from each registration fee is given to Gospel for Asia, a faith-based organization that sends Christian missionaries to regions in Asia. Runners can also choose to contribute by leaving their shoes in one of the designated bins; shoes will be cleaned up and donated to someone in need.
When Rhonda Nichols switched career paths from human resources to fitness, she didn't just leave her desk behind?she left the ground behind, too. Rhonda had fallen in love with aerial yoga, a discipline that uses stretchy, ceiling-mounted hammocks to assist with flips and suspended poses. She acquired a studio, painted it purple, and installed 12 matching yoga hammocks for her students and instructors.
Today, Studio Soar offers its own curriculum of aerial yoga classes, as well as standard yoga and pole fitness lessons. These classes are sorted by experience level, and accommodate students from total beginners to advanced.
