Jewel 32's team of piercing pros and jewel experts adorns bodies with necklaces, earrings, rings, and other trimmings. Lighted glass cabinets line the walls, casting baubles from brands such as Murano, Twisted Blade, and Swarovski in a soft glow. The staff decorates lobes with marcasite earrings, replete with elegant dark stones, encircles fingers in engraved sterling-silver skull rings, and wraps ankles or bottles of ketchup in delicate sterling-silver flowers and freshwater pearls. Piercing professionals imbue noses, ears, eyebrows, and an array of other areas with new jewelry receptacles that can house favorites from Jewel 32's extensive collection of gold, silver, and diamond body jewelry, including gauges from sizes 00–20 and ornate navel rings.

The tattoo artists and body piercers at Addiction NYC help clients express their uniqueness by adorning them with custom tattoo work and body piercings. The portfolios of their five artists encompass everything from traditional, Japanese, Polynesian, and portrait-style artwork, most of which is drafted from scratch. Their ability to develop virtually any icon or image has earned them a loyal local following, as well as clients from other countries.

If there’s one thing the Addiction team prizes above individuality, it’s safety. During piercings, they eschew reusable guns for disposable, single-use needles. Plus, each of the artists is licensed by the state of New York and has received training on the hazards of blood-born pathogens, cross-contamination, and tattooing a horse.

After receiving plenty of tattoos in parlors around the country, TJ Cantwell decided to open a studio of his own. By adopting the best from all, Cantwell created Studio 28 Tattoos on West 28th, where cleanliness always comes first. Displays of artwork do all of the talking at the studio, where Cantwell and his team share a love of tattooing. The shop dabbles in a wide array of custom-made possibilities, from traditional Celtic and tribal tattoos to exotic dragons and full ink sleeves, but photo-realism and horror is their bread and butter. With such a focus on craft and artistry, it’s no wonder Studio 28 Tattoos was recently named one of the best tattoo studios in New York City.

Natural light floods through the salon's floor-to-ceiling windows onto cozy leather sofas and lush hardwood floors. Further into the space, hanging plants are situated at individual cutting stations, where owner Peggie and her skilled stylists have been transforming the tresses of downtown Westwood for more than 20 years with their 25th Anniversary coming up on July 27, 2014. Clients can solicit Patti, Jamie, or Tracy for elegant Matrix highlights or defrizz unruly hair with Dawn, who's certified in keratin straightening treatments. The staffers can also nix unflattering fuzz from upper lips, chins, and bionic metal limbs during personal waxing sessions.

Perfect Brows NYC doesn’t just remove hair above the eyes; the studio removes it from all over the body using three different methods. Its threading services uproot follicles on the face with a twisted cotton thread. And during waxing services, a thin layer of molten wax covers fuzzy areas and adheres to hairs before pulling them from the root. The third method used, called sugaring, is an organic alternative that removes hair with a natural paste made from sugar, lemon juice, guar gum, and water. This method is proven to provide less breakage and ingrown hairs and to leave clients with skin as smooth as a newborn dolphin. Each method provides a blank canvas for the studio’s other services, which include henna work and facials.

To merely call Mr. Kaves prolific is to understate his colorful career as an artist. The free-spirited owner of Brooklyn Made Tattoo came of age in the tunnels of the New York City transit system, where he began crafting elaborate graffiti murals before he hit his teenage years. These murals caught the attention of other local artists—not to mention the NYPD. As his persona grew, Kaves moved on to more legal forms of self-expression. He made a name for himself as an MC for the hip-hop group Lordz of Brooklyn and started crafting commissioned street art for companies such as MTV and Adidas and artists such as Beastie Boys, Metallica, and Everlast.

At his boutique tattoo parlor in Bay Ridge, Kaves continues to find new outlets for his creativity. When he doesn't have a mic or an aerosol can in hand, he expresses himself with tattoos that feature elaborate lettering and full-color imagery. Kaves and his team of incredible artists create lively tattoos six days a week at the shop.
