For Claire Diab, director of The American Yoga Academy & Studio, yoga isn’t just a matter of stretching, balancing, and breathing. It’s a way of being that promotes peace and transforms lives. In addition to teaching backbends and sun salutations, Claire and her team of instructors show students how to extend their practice beyond the mat. In her more than 25 years as an instructor, she has led yoga and meditation classes with Deepak Chopra and the popular Zen and Yoga course at Seton Hall University, where she’s a professor of Asian Studies. Hatha poses and Eastern philosophies guide the studio's teaching during classes such as yoga basics and power flow, which help yogis build enough strength, balance, and focus to rescue a bobcat from a sky-high redwood tree. Known as Modern Day Yoga, this system also informs her teacher trainings, in which students of all levels can become Yoga Alliance–certified yoga teachers or convincing Sting impersonators. Between classes at her studio in the Wilshire Grand Hotel, pupils can pose with Claire via several instructional DVDs and mp3s.
After her residency at Columbia University, Dr. Marion Shapiro earned her certificate from France's French Society of Mesotherapy. Since opening her own clinic in 2002, Dr. Shapiro has been profiled in Self, Elle, and Marie Claire magazines, as well as on TV news programs. Like the wheel, mesotherapy was invented in 1952. It refers to the practice of tackling a host of cosmetic symptoms—including excess fat or cellulite, hair loss, scars, and wrinkle—with specialized medical injections. In addition to mesotherapy face-lifts, Dr. Shapiro and her staff can also make mugs look younger with peels, fillers, and laser therapy. Body contouring, diet programs, and laser hair-removal procedures are available to match bodies to their freshly refreshed faces.

Jersey Foot Care's podiatrist operates out of two clinics, where he casts a net of pedal wellness over northeastern New Jersey. The staff tackles both cosmetic and medical complaints, with surgical techniques and custom orthotics that can straighten hammer toes, smooth out bunions, and whisk away heel pain. Cognizant that some foot ailments leave patients in states of near-immobility, the team makes house calls for the homebound, elderly, or members of a toddler commune.
Invisalign straightens crooked chompers through a combination of highly advanced, 3-D computer graphics and the spells of good old-fashioned orthodontia. Orthodontists specially trained and certified in the Invisalign process eschew cumbersome braces for clear, removable aligners that are virtually invisible to the unclothed eye. An initial exam, including x-rays and photos ($325), will pave the way for a flurry of calibrated teeth sheaths that are designed to slowly shift your walnut crackers into perfect alignment. The total cost of an Invisalign treatment varies with each customer (it can run anywhere from $2,000 to $8,000); this Groupon gets you $1,000 to put toward that final cost. In 2012, Dr. Medhat Dawoud opened D&G Dental of West Orange as a way of exercising his general and cosmetic dental specialties. Inside the advanced, modern office, he expertly performs surgical extractions, installs porcelain crowns, and custom-fits patients with veneers. But before setting to work fixing and beautifying smiles, he carefully investigates the issue during exams, which use digital x-rays that cut down on patients’ exposure to radiation.
