The consortium of professional instructors at Fred Astaire Dance Studios, which was cofounded by the legendary toe tapper himself, shepherds students of all ages and skill levels through lessons that span the style spectrum. Low-pressure private sessions allow enthusiastic teachers to fine-tune individual students' techniques and form, using their expert eyes and mechanical dancing shoes preprogrammed to do the Charleston. Patrons can learn how to cavort through classic waltz and fox-trot romps or swivel through the modern steps of salsa, swing, or samba. For dancers hoping to hoof it up in a social setting, the group practice parties provide a one-night extravaganza of instruction, demonstrations, and amateur firewalking.

Step N Dance founder Tony Duarte began dancing as a child in Nicaragua. Soon after moving to Miami at age 16, he developed an interest in styles ranging from the waltz to the hustle. With the new discovery of so many new steps came a passionate love of one particular style, however, and Duarte soon mastered the art of salsa. Over his career, Duarte’s skills have been seen on PBS, Univision, and every time he crosses the street. Classes at his own studio lean strongly towards salsa and other Latin styles, each enlivened with a smattering of jazz, hip-hop, and Afro-Cuban influences.

Certified personal trainer Jared Lopez and his team of instructors work to tone muscles and fire up metabolisms for all fitness levels during their boot-camp program that incorporates plyometrics, kickboxing, functional strength training, and calisthenics to get healthy and safe results. The team of experienced trainers also shows modifications for each exercise in fitness sessions at their new indoor and outdoor 7,000 square foot facility. They change up their routines on a daily basis to prevent clients and their muscles from becoming bored. To cultivate a supportive environment, the instructors motivate students without yelling at them and post success stories of clients who have lost inches and weight.

Being a successful natural bodybuilder was only the beginning of a fitness journey that led Cast Iron CrossFit owner Matt Franco toward a deeper, biological understanding of how exercise and dieting affect our bodies. Franco obtained a degree in biology from Binghamton University and went on to study Nuclear Medical Technology at the Rochester Institute of Technology, working in the healthcare industry for many years before discovering CrossFit. With its simple, ever-changing movements, CrossFit tied in perfectly to what he'd learned about having to constantly challenge and surprise the body in order to achieve results and his passion for helping others find the most effective way to get fit and healthy.

His newfound love for CrossFit inspired Matt to open his own studio which today operates out of an expansive 3,000-square-foot facility. At Cast Iron CrossFit, workouts strip away everything but the essentials. With the Cast Iron CrossFit Unloaded classes, students can get the benefits of CrossFit, but without the heavy lifting or tire throwing. Matt teaches movements designed using the principles of body mechanics. Just like the classes Matt took once upon a time, the workouts can be customized to challenge both beginners and seasoned athletes, and the exercises increase in difficulty and intensity over time. In a supportive class environment, students master Olympic lifts, body-weight exercises, and plyometrics as they build toned, lean, lithe bodies.
