If you’re looking to have some old-school roller-skating fun, the Minnesota Roller Girls is the way to go. Roller Derby is the name of the game at the Roller Girls dome, an exciting sport that pits teams of roller skaters against one another as they try to out-skate each other around a circular track. The charm here is how the rules are very easy to initially grasp, but require deeper study to understand the nuances of the teamwork and strategy needed for a win. The Roller Girls were one of the first members of the Women’s League of this sport, joining in 2006. In addition to the intense, nonconventional contact sport that’s played here, spectators can also enjoy the in-house band intermission performances, which are lively and fun to listen to.

At The Creative Institute, the ensemble trains students how to work theatrical media such as improv and writing into their everyday problem-solving skills.

A modern mixed-media collaboration, Bridgman/Packer Dance is the brainchild of Art Bridgman and Myrna Packer, two collaborating choreographers, performers, and Guggenheim Fellows who have spent more than 30 years turning the dance duet on its head with trippy video effects. On this particular evening, the duo will showcase two of their latest works: Double Expose, a raucously sensual journey into the psyche's surreal mindscapes, and Under the Skin, an aesthetic adventure that viscerally challenges ideas of identity as images of the dancers multiply to fill the stage. To deepen the multi-sensory immediacy of each work, the dancers will be integrated with video projections, including animation, live camerawork, and prerecorded footage.

Located in the Dayton’s Bluff area, historic Mounds Theatre is a great spot to experience live theatre, movies, and occasional paranormal encounters. Knotareel Getaway Cruise is an interactive dinner-theater production written by Greg Eiden that features musical comedy and a gaggle of mimicking pirate parrots all named Polly. You’ll ward off scurvy thanks to the show’s dinner menu, which offers roasted chicken with herb vinaigrette, fettuccine or linguine (tossed with olive oil, fresh basil, and garlic), vegetable medley, field green salad, and chef’s choice dessert. You’ll also be supporting a good cause since the theater is home to the Portage for Youth, a nonprofit organization serving disadvantaged youth that collaborates with arts and cultural groups.

The Minnesota Wild put up a 25-12-4 record at the Xcel Energy Center last season, giving crowds plenty of reason to cheer, chant, and toast each other. With goal-focused pucksmen Mikko Koivu and Martin Havlat leading the way this season, the Wild are poised to bury the Predators and the Red Wings—both Western Conference rivals and 2010 Stanley Cup playoff teams—in a hailstorm of supersonic slapshots and seamless shift changes. Your suite seating will let you watch the sub-zero spectacle of your choice from within the confines of a fan-friendly pod of sheltered luxury. The Xcel Energy Center will fuel your full-throated cheering and creative high-fiving throughout the evening with a hot dog, chips, a cookie, and a soda or water.
