The dedicated teaching professionals at Village Glen Tennis Club oversee a wide variety of programs for adults and juniors of all skill levels, earning the club recognition as a Top 50 Tennis Welcome Center of 2007 from the U.S. Tennis Association. This honor followed on the heels of a major renovation of the club’s facilities in 2006 by a new management team, who modernized the six hard and eight clay courts and brought in new nets instead of pealing white picket fences. Today, players can take up the game through a series of classes that help them progress alongside players with similar abilities or hone specific strokes through drills designed to isolate and improve their technique. Players excited to show off a shiny new forehand or a pitch-perfect grunt can do so through the club’s adult leagues or socials.
At Joshua Creek Golf and Tennis, golfers can hone their game independently at the 65-stall driving range and hasten their journey to golf mastery by taking lessons from Canadian PGA professional John Davis. The club also carries the newest gear and equipment from top brands such as Callaway and Ping, and offers club-fitting services for select brands to pair golfers with clubs that fit their back-scratching technique.
A staff of four tennis professionals runs the site's tennis facility, which fosters baseline duels across six courts. In the summer, kids flock to the multi-sport facility for camps that incorporate tennis, golf, soccer, and other sports into a fun and educational experience.
Premier Sports Center’s indoor sporting haven pairs up-and-coming sluggers with an ultramodern quintet of pristine automated batting cages. With each token, good for 18 pitches, batters can refine the ideal stance, spit, and swing against balls hurtling at a variety of speeds. Three of Premier’s cages allow players to populate their orb onslaught with baseballs, softballs, or disembodied doll heads. Batters are welcome to tote along their own bats and helmets, though an on-site arsenal of noggin-shields and ballpark batons can ably equip the unprepared for frenzied rounds of sphere smashing. Though not included in this Groupon, Premier Sports Center also rents out outdoor tennis courts and an indoor astroturf sports field and boasts an on-site café with free WiFi and outdoor seating.
The University at Buffalo's Division I NCAA teams rally students for football at UB Stadium, basketball in the Alumni Arena, and a slew of other sports across their campus. Additionally, the Recreation & Intramural Services staff aim to supplement students' brain workouts and textbook bench presses with programs to keep their bodies running just as strong—and welcome community members to do the same. Exercise equipment fills indoor recreational facilities at the Alumni Arena and Clark Hall for those who prefer solo workout sessions, and group classes, such as biking and boot camp, get attendees into shape as they enjoy a communal atmosphere.
The six hard courts at Welland Indoor Tennis Club play host to friendly matches, leagues, and clinics conducted from October to April each year.
