Groups of up to six students learn to read music and play chords over the course of four once-a-week tutorials, gathering in one of the school’s light-filled practice rooms or in the brand-new Roland digital piano lab, a colorful stable of domesticated music machines. Budding adult musicians can bring their own libations to loosen up the pianos with liquor; registration is first-come, first-served, so check the schedule and call early to secure your seat on the bench.
Since she was a child, Corina Vanderoef has been creating art. She harnesses her artistic passion and her degree in fine arts to help students unearth their own inner Rembrandts during classes, team-building activities, and birthday parties. She and her staff have cultivated a laid-back atmosphere where participants—regardless of skill level—can enjoy their own libations, chat with fellow artists, and create paintings to proudly hang on living-room or doghouse walls.
One A'Chord creates sweet sounds through instrument and voice lessons. Its instructors help students achieve their highest potential with a focus on technique and devotion to the craft. In addition to offering regular lessons, One A'Chord performs in local venues and hosts Summer Quake, a six-week summer arts extravaganza designed to help young artists pursue writing, music, dance, and other creative interests.
