  • Houston Massage by Sonya
Whether she’s covering them with full-body drapings that keep their modesty intact or deploying her signature red-velvet-cupcake-scented body lotion, Sonya Bernhardt knows that comfort often comes down to the smallest details. The big ones are pretty important too, of course; during bodywork services, Sonya uses gentle Swedish massage techniques to make her clients' stress fade away while increasing their flexibility. Her well-honed sports-massage skills help athletes recover from injury, whether it came during tough competition, workouts, or duels with referees. Other modalities in her repertoire include scalp massages and pampering sessions powered by a very light touch and therapeutic essential oils. To assist her clients at home, she also curated an online video library called Your Stretch, which gives instructions on how to find relief from sitting at a computer or sleeping on top of a desk all day.

  • Mythili's Beauty Salon
Owner Mythili Muktevi truly believes the maxim that beauty starts from within. To this end, she focuses not only on fulfilling the beautification needs of her clients but on enveloping them in a welcoming, self-affirming environment. She and her talented team utilize a range of facials to quell troubles on a variety of skin types, infusing treatments with herbs, fruits, and plants that encourage glowing complexions and invigorate mental activity. Within the beauty haven?s salon area, stylists renovate lackluster locks with women?s and men?s haircuts and opt for relaxers and perms to transform the texture of manes. Additionally, waxing and threading sessions sweep away unwanted hairs, and henna services utilize a temporary dye to ink intricate designs along the body, eliminating the need to put a pet squid through art school.

  • Synergy Day Spa
Rich etched wood encases the front desk of Synergy Day Spa as clients saunter into the salon and spa, outfitted with elegant decor and hardwood floors. Private rooms, wrapped in neutral tones, invite clients to snuggle into plush treatment beds topped with woven blankets made from the same soft, silky strands as Rapunzel’s hair extensions. Along with waxing, nailcare, and hair services, the experienced staffers spruce up expression makers with men’s and women’s facials performed with organic Image skincare products. Tense twosomes can unwind during a couples facial, which incorporates both skin rejuvenating services, as duos settle in for an hour of indulgence while reminiscing about first dates scuba diving in apartment lobby fish tanks.

  • Eclipse Wellness
Signature Service: Neuromuscular Massage Therapy Brands Used: Comfort Craft Electro-Hydraulic Treatment Tables Established: 2008 Reservations/Appointments: Required Handicap Accessible: Yes Staff Size: 2?10 people Parking: Parking lot Minimum Age Requirement: 18 Pro Tip: Wear comfortable, workout-like clothing so that we may stretch you as needed without restriction. Q&A with Mike Hachey, Owner And Lead Therapist What are some of your most popular services? Why do you think clients love them so much? The 60-minute neuromuscular therapy treatment is our most popular service by far. It allows us enough time to assess and treat the clients' main areas of concern, as well as the areas that have been affected by them. Since our treatment is therapeutic in nature, nearly all our clients come to us with some form of muscular pain and/or soreness, and all leave feeling better than when they walked in. Our primary goal is to alleviate the pain that our clients are in, and then to correct the problem that caused the pain, and finally to teach our clients how to maintain the problem area, as well as their overall muscular health through stretching and semi-regular massage treatments. This can take multiple treatments, as most soft-tissue problems are chronic, but each session leads us closer to solving the issues. People go to spas to forget about the outside world. How does your decor help create an atmosphere where visitors can unwind? We have very calming earth tones as the color scheme in our clinic. However, since we are not a day spa, rather a muscle-therapy clinic, our decor is more akin to a high-end doctor's office as opposed to a high-end day spa. Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover? The most important thing that we need to communicate is that this is a therapeutic massage, designed with the intent to help correct chronic and acute muscle pain and soreness. [It is] not a Swedish oil massage. ... It is our experience, based on the over 3,000 clients we have seen, that this is usually the type of massage therapy people are seeking when they are in pain. If people are just looking for a day of "getting away" or being pampered, we are not the place for that. However, if they are in any kind of muscular pain or discomfort, we are exactly what they need.

The president of our company suffers from chronic neck pain.
