Kerrie Bodendorf, the face behind Balance, has always been a fitness enthusiast, whether running in a 5K, achieving her CrossFit certification, or working out at the YMCA. Despite her healthy living, she noticed that she always had chronic pain in her wrists, shoulder, lower back, and neck. Eager to alleviate the pain, Kerrie tried working out with the Melt Method in her home, and soon found herself in New York studying with Sue Hitzman, the creator of the Melt Method.
After using Melt to reduce her own pain, Kerrie started sharing it with others at Balance via intro workshops, classes, and private sessions. Like screaming advice at a mirror, the sessions emulate manual therapy, using foam rollers and rubber balls to activate bones and tissue with precision point compression and other techniques. The techniques help hydrate connective tissue and free it of built-up stress, which can lead to improvements in mobility and decreased pain.
Our club provides a personal feel that alleviates the intimidation and confusion of a typical gym setting. Prestigiously kept, the cleanliness of the facility is only topped by the quality of the trainers and instructors. Our trainers and instructors are fully certified, insured and attentive to all your physical needs.
With decades of experience in jazz, tap, lyrical, and hip-hop dance to go with teaching certifications from Dance Masters of America, the instructors at All-Stars Dance Center help students glide and stomp through classes in a variety of styles. They work with students of all abilities, refining skills in age-appropriate subject areas such as boys’ hip-hop, tiny tots, and adult tap. Aside from the regular class schedule, special programs in competitive dance and musical-theater training afford committed dancers the opportunity to learn performance techniques such as jazz hands and the classical worm.
When they aren’t leading formal dance lessons, the studio’s instructors guide adults through Zumba and yoga workouts. All classes take place on the hardwood floors of a professional studio that features three air-conditioned dance rooms, a waiting room, and viewing windows through which tennis shoes gaze jealously at their sleeker counterparts.
Voted Best Physical Therapy Clinic in Valley Advocate's 2011 Best of The Valley Readers' Poll, Attain Therapy + Fitness helps enlighten members on the proper methods for burning fat, building muscle, and improving athletic performance. The professional sports and conditioning trainers harness years of experience to guide and motivate students in the well-maintained workout facility, which includes Olympic lifting platforms and Keiser performance equipment. Each one-hour Adult Strength and Conditioning session begins with an invigorating series of static stretches and dynamic warm-ups to facilitate blood flow and decrease the risk of injury. Once participants are well primed, they proceed through a boot-camp-style circuit training that integrates energetic aerobic movement with power-based exertion—not only to increase strength but also to develop the mettle needed to stare down disobedient pet rocks.
Backed by years of experience in the fitness industry, Karen Ollari opened Knock Out Fitness to provide a welcoming space for people to get fit while having fun. Within a studio flooded by natural light, she and her team lead up to 30 students in Pilates, boot camps, and kickboxing. Dance fitness instructors, meanwhile, teach the basics of Middle Eastern movements in belly-dance classes and lead Latin-inspired routines in Zumba sessions set to global party beats. Alternatively, personal training is available for clients who prefer a one-on-one approach to getting fit.
The studio also throws high-energy ZumbAtomic birthday parties for kids aged 4–14, offering a healthy alternative to traditional celebrations that involve candy-filled piñatas and frosting-filled dunk tanks.
At Second Wind Yoga, students unroll their mats in a carpeted studio lit by soft lamps. Instructors walk them step by step through the poses and breath work of various styles, including Hatha, Vinyasa, and gentle yoga. They also offer chair yoga and hot yoga, whose high temperatures induce sweating to help flush out bodily toxins.
