Drawing from more than 20 years of experience, certified trainer Bobby Spindell doesn’t rely on intensity alone to draw calories from his clients—he also uses rest periods as a fitness tool. Recognizing that fitness is a process that occurs in phases, he motivates clients during boot camps and training classes to complete the full number of reps before giving their muscles strategic rest periods. He advises clients on how to help their bodies recover for the next workouts with low-resistance training, proper sleep, and what to eat after workouts.
Light streams in through the large and plentiful windows inside Chelmsford Sports Club and Fitness, bouncing off high ceilings, exposed-brick walls, and boxing equipment within the sprawling confines. Here, members take fitness seriously, whether they’re training for upcoming boxing matches or working toward bench-pressing their surly landlords. The club's approach to fitness was established by its founders, all personal trainers who wanted to help their clients surpass their workout goals and change their bodies through individual training sessions and high-intensity group fitness classes.
To help clients maintain a sun-kissed glow all year round, Illuminations Tanning and Teeth Whitening outfits its contemporary loft space—tucked within Chelmsford Sports Club—with advanced Sun Capsule tanning beds. These high-powered systems come in both lay-down and standup forms, and each capsule is equipped with powerful UV bulbs that bronze skin in 9 to 12 minutes. Built-in overhead fans kept bodies cool in the VHR-69 and Cyclone booths, whereas the facial lamps in the Starpower 548 and 52/4F beds ensure complexions get a golden glow to match the rest of the body. The salon's collection of Devoted Creations lotions, protective eye goggles, and decorative stickers further enhances tanning sessions, whereas spray-tan services offer a UV-free alternative. Understanding that a bright, white smile is the best complement to any tan, Illuminations provides in-house teeth-whitening treatments as well as take-home teeth-whitening kits, which can be used in the privacy of one's glass-walled home.

Fit Revolution’s owner Michelle O’Connor wants people to reach their fitness goals by working smarter, not harder. She founded the training facility—which is located within the Rams Athletic Complex—to give her clients access to state-of-the-art equipment and highly trained instructors. Within the private cycling studio and on an indoor-turf boot-camp area, O’Connor and her team utilize techniques such as muscle confusion, interval training, and intense bursts of cardio to get noticeable results in less time.
The classes are taught by seasoned coaches who hold certifications in areas including metabolic and personal training, spinning, and kickboxing. They accelerate the calorie-burning process on equipment ranging from Spinner NXT bikes to kettlebells and medicine balls, which get their heft from the crumpled-up prescriptions within.
The Gym Class’s trainers lead boot camps that are both fun and effective. Sessions are designed to promote fitness and camaraderie, encouraging athletes to work together to achieve each other’s goals. The boot camp blends traditional, callisthenic, and bodyweight exercises with interval training and strength training to help promote fat loss, often using equipment such as stability balls, battle ropes, and suspension training systems. The location of the camps can also vary, with groups meeting at recreation areas, gymnastics gyms, and elementary schools.
