Although the instructors at Underground Yoga got there by way of different backgrounds—vinyasa flow, ashtanga, and hatha, to name a few—they all share an affinity for strengthening students' bodies and minds. Their classes take place in a dimly lit studio with a panoramic skyline mural on one wall and paintings from local artists on the others. Add music and you have a recipe for a hip yoga setting that doesn't mind if the class is your first or 100th. To complement the flowing yoga movements, Underground also schedules two-hour hula hoop workshops where attendees can sling a hula hoop around their hips just like Newton did when he discovered centrifugal force.

During construction of all its new studios, CorePower Yoga strives to use recycled content, install eco-friendly and efficient mechanical systems, and ensure that any waste created doesn't end up in landfills or just piled in Mr. Henderson's garage.
The Sweat House's team of dedicated Pilates instructors walks students through innovative SPX Pilates workouts. The SPX workout, devised by celebrity trainer Sebastien Lagree, integrates aspects of Pilates, cardio, and strength training to provide a well-rounded regimen that challenges muscles to the point of exhaustion for lean-muscle gains and fat loss. The studio’s schedule of classes offers ample opportunity for students to try their hands, legs, and arms at SPX’s strengthening exercises, toning and trimming bodies from head to toe with the lengthening mat moves found in traditional Pilates classes. Though the workout is more intense than competitive channel surfing, the routine is designed to accommodate students of all skill levels, inviting students to awaken hibernating six packs of abdominal muscles.
MD Pilates owner Mely Dinsdale helms a team of certified instructors, helping students to sculpt lean, pliable bodies using core-centric exercises and Pilates reformer equipment. During classes, instructors preach the importance of balancing flexibility with muscle-strengthening work to prevent injury, both on the mat and on the studio’s reformer resistance machines. Pilates reformer machines, made with a system of springs, pulleys, and a sliding platform, boost the difficulty of students' moves by resisting each movement as they perform Pilates exercises, thereby helping to build muscle while reducing stress on tendons, ligaments, and high-strung skeletons.
Cloud Nine Yoga focuses on building community and self-awareness through the practice of yoga. As a yoga co-op in Orange County, every instructor at Cloud Nine is a partner in the studio, combining their powers to create a benevolent behemoth of fitness, learning, and relaxation. Classes are held throughout the day every day of the week. Start with their introductory classes to get acquainted with breathing exercises, methods of relaxation, and secret handshakes and footshakes that are central to the practice of yoga. More advanced classes such as Vinyasa Flow start with sun salutes and hone in on the relaxing and meditative aspects of yoga. The studio also offers both prenatal and baby & me classes for those expecting and women looking to re-tone.
Created by dancer and choreographer Carrie Rezabek, Pure Barre utilizes the ballet barre to dissolve fat and tone muscles throughout the body. In group classes, upbeat music ushers participants along as they perform intense, concentrated movements, which manifests in physical transformations as well as mental results similar to those garnered in zen practices such as yoga, meditation, and eating ice cream in a dark room.
