Advantage Horsemanship Equestrian Center’s Scott Purdum has felt at home among horses his entire life. His parents recognized his comfort and prodigious skills with the animals when he was extremely young, and bought him his own horse when he was just 3 years old. Unlike many youngsters, who quickly tire of a sport or only participate for the promise of halftime puppy giveaways, Scott’s passion grew, leading him to show in hunter and pleasure by the age of 6 and go on to study equine science at the University of Maryland. Naturally, this level of familiarity with the animals lends him a high degree of authority when helping humans expand their horsemanship knowledge and training for all breeds. He’s even translated his skills into a television series in which he covers common training and riding topics. At Advantage Horsemanship Equestrian Center, he works with a team of horse experts to lead trail rides and provide training. Scott’s riding instruction extends to the disciplines of both English and Western riding, which he disseminates through lessons, clinics, training DVDs, and several articles.
All In Stride Equestrian Center is open year-round with horse-related activities surrounded by more than 100 acres of picturesque countryside in Parkton, Maryland. Owners Barry and Wendy Kraus have put together a staff of dedicated instructors. All in Stride provides riding lessons, trail rides, and boarding services, as well as birthday-party packages for children. Lessons range from learning the basics for beginning equestrians, such as how to properly tack a horse, to more advanced concepts such as showing horses on a national level. Often, All in Stride takes advantage of its prime countryside spot by following trails into the nearby Hereford Area of Gunpowder Falls State Park.
The wellness exam includes a basic physical of your beast's body, during which his or her weight and blood pressure will be measured and noted, as well as an exam of the all-around level of wellness (Heartowrm/Lyme Snap Test and fecal exam for intestinal parasites not included). If the dog doc recommends additional tests for your feral friend, you'll receive 25% off a blood profile (usually between $105 and $150) as well as 25% off dental procedures (usually $493).
