Boot Camp Challenge Denver Metro helps trainees to realize their fitness goals with motivating instructors and encouragement from peers. Classes meet indoors during the morning and evening hours three days a week for six weeks, with participants burning up to 500 to 800 calories per session. Exercises conform to all fitness levels and abilities, and each program includes personalized nutritional guidance that details how to successfully plan meals and mercilessly harpoon wild heads of lettuce.
For more than three decades, Belliston Academy of Ballet and Belliston Centre of Dance have inspired slipper shufflers and character-shoe stompers to temper their technique in weekly dance classes. Ballerinas splash in pool-based pointe-conditioning classes that strengthen feet and muscles for on-stage pointe execution and water-spitting fountain imitations. Children and adults achieve greater balance and grace through lessons in a variety of dance styles including ballet, modern, tap, jazz, hip-hop, and tumbling, while pre-dance classes introduce younger children (ages 3–6) to the fundamentals of expressive movement, forward momentum, and dance terminology, enabling them to point out faulty fouettés and lava-covered barres.
When Denver Westword critic Jason Sheehan visited Cracovia Restaurant and Bar, his summation of the meal ended up sounding less like a restaurant review and more like an Alice in Wonderland–style memoir dripping with passion and faux nostalgia. At one point, he recalled a desire to tackle a waiter who had walked by with a plate of cabbage rolls, so that he could "grab the golabki with [his] teeth and drink the tomato-mushroom gravy straight from the tureen." Later in the meal, he and his wife felt so connected to the food, they almost felt Polish themselves: "If our mothers had been Polish … this would've been what we ate growing up, " Jason said, "This tastes like home cooking in the best possible way, tastes of time and care and experience and love."
Love is probably the key word here: it's not surprising that Jason and his wife were so enamored with their meal, considering Cracovia is a labor of love for husband-wife team Lester and Marie Rodzen. They named the restaurant after a Krakow hotel where they honeymooned more than a quarter-century ago, and they pour this affection for their home country into each of the from-scratch Polish dishes they create, which is part of the reason they were named “Best German/Eastern European Restaurant Denver 2014” by Denver Westword. The aforementioned golabki—cabbage rolls stuffed with pork and rice—is one of the Rodzens' signature dishes, as are the homemade kielbasa and pierogi stuffed with meat, cabbage, cheese, or blueberries, all purchased at local farmers markets. In the spirit of its romantic inspiration, Cracovia is a perfect date-night restaurant—every Friday and Saturday night, live singers croon as couples make their way to the dining room's dance floor or three-legged racing area.
A 10-year veteran of the Denver and Jefferson County Sheriff's offices and a retired National Guard Chief Warrant Officer and combat veteran, TYJ Global Helicopters' Mike Fyola has logged more than 6,000 hours as a helicopter pilot. During that time, he piloted medical evacuations as well as search-and-rescue flights, but also shuttled governors, Congressmen, and sightseers. Along with his wife, Gina, Mike leads instructional flight sessions high above Denver and the surrounding mountains in their Schweizer 300C helicopters. The duo specializes in high-altitude flight training and charter services and also offers flight training for private-pilot, flight-instructor, and cloud-wrangling certification.
Flesh-eating zombies, cannibalistic clowns, nightmarish ghouls, and haunting ghosts prowl The Frightmare Compound, ready to snatch those foolish enough to venture through its fear-infested grounds. Known as one of Colorado's oldest and largest haunted attractions, the compound houses two terrifying attractions on more than 100,000 square feet of swampland. Horrors unseen wait for new victims inside the first compound, where a haunted barn filled with terrors is the least of visitors' worries. The second attraction, the House of Darkness, was the site of a terrible massacre and lay abandoned for some time until the Frightmare staff brought it to their site. Soon after, the ghosts of those slain began roaming its halls, and clowns with a taste for human flesh found their way inside its corridors.
