Nestled into 116 wooded acres, A Cowboy Town preserves a slice of the Wild West east of the Mississippi. The owner conceived of his idea when he had a sudden memory from childhood of watching a Wild West gunfight in a similar show in Florida; thus, A Cowboy Town was born. It turned out he wasn't alone in his interests, and A Cowboy Town began to draw crowds of children both young and old with its comedy gunfight show, trail rides through the valley, and activities, including canoeing and fishing for cowboy boots on Kickapoo Lake. The town takes visitors back in time as they interact with townspeople who rove the grounds in period dress, alongside live musical performers, who strum guitars and pluck banjos in cowboy fashion for the crowds every Saturday. Guests can saunter into the Rattlesnake Saloon—which can be fully stocked with adult beverages for private parties–for a cold sarsaparilla or to try their hand at poker, or head to the stables to bestride a horse with a gentle demeanor.
A Cowboy Town is dedicated completely to hosting all-ages, family-friendly activities, and the owner considers a repeat visit the highest compliment. The office manager Kitti recalls her favorite customer reaction: "They [said they] were going to bring their whole family out the next weekend, all 25 people. And they did! People always leave our place with smiles on their faces and they tell their friends and come back over and over."

The professionals at Invisible Fence of Middle Tennessee bring pet owners peace of mind with their Invisible Fence technology. They begin by surrounding properties with a discreet wire that acts as an invisible boundary. They then outfit dogs with a custom computer collar, which emits a warning tone followed by a nonharming static correction whenever pets reach the yard’s parameters. Invisible Fence of Middle Tennessee also offers training services, in which pet trainers work with dogs to teach them the new boundaries.
The Belmont’s experienced staff of animal lovers takes top-notch care of domesticated furry friends inside its full-service pet resort and daycare. Bring in your dog for three consecutive or nonconsecutive nights of boarding (a $40 value/night), during which they’ll be monitored closely, treated with utmost care, and taught that 21 days in dog years flies by quickly. Each dog shacks up in its own size-appropriate suite decked out with a bed and a regularly filled water dish, and most rooms even have a webcam for owners to observe their pets' activities. Play time and walks occur at least four times a day, ensuring routine exercise and much-needed respites from writing the next great American novel. Owners can also put their four-legged comrades in doggy daycare at any point during the visit.
In 1991, Jimmy and Regina Huggins opened a dog-grooming salon. Sensing the duo’s bond with canines, customers began asking if their dogs could stay for the weekend. The Huggins decided to build a mini dog hotel in their backyard, a place where they felt comfortable keeping their own four-legged best friend, Miss Kitty.
Today, in a larger location, caregivers pamper pups with creative grooming services, baked pet treats, and loving overnight or midday boarding. Humans observe from the lobby as nationally certified master groomers comb, cut, and coif coats according to each canine's personal style. Along with their grooming, stylish pets enjoy playtime and a leisurely walk to flaunt their new looks around the area's hottest fire hydrants. Bakers craft wholesome doggy confections, such as homemade pitter-pat cookies, from whole-wheat flour, eggs, carob, peanut butter, honey, and cheese. Jeweled collars and accessories line the elegant boutique for owners to gild pooches in preparation for dog-show red carpets.
During doggy daycare, pet nannies place four-legged wards with compatible canine friends for playtime in a large, tree-filled yard. At the boarding hotel, pups head outdoors for 20 to 30 minutes five times a day, rain or shine, to prance, socialize, and discuss timeless questions, such as, “Who’s a good boy?” Separate wings host dogs of different sizes and temperaments and each canine guest has free run of a cheerful, private room with linoleum floors, eye-level windows, and cloth curtains. Throughout dogs’ stay, caring staffers administer medication, food, and veterinarian-approved levels of tender loving care.
