Professionally certified by the USGA, Marvin Warren of Sure Shot Golf Lab utilizes state-of-the-art scientific monitors and graphs to fit clubs to their owners, aiming to improve each golfer's game. During a private, one-on-one session at the on-site driving range, Mr. Warren kicks off the 2.5-hour custom fitting by evaluating each client's height, wrist-to-floor distance, hand measurements, and vocal range during operatic arias of "fore." Golfers then hit balls off the lie board to determine which part of the club hits the green. After collecting this data, Warren captures spin rates, launch angle, ball speed, swing path, and club-head speed using a cutting-edge and highly sensitive launch monitor. With all of the collected data, the lab alters clubs to fit each customer's individual needs, working to improve games on the green and to increase fruit-slinging precision on the kitchen table.
Laser Adventure’s indoor laser-tag facility hosts epic 20-minute rounds of shootouts in the style of paintball but without the messy splatter or irritating welts. Participants are outfitted with realistically sized laser guns, instead of those comically oversized laser guns used in English period dramas, and blast-receptive headgear that helps avoid frustrating “I hit you, nuh uh” shooting quarrels of childhood make-believe wars. If future zero gravity excites you more than light-based weaponry, try an intense, 10-minute match of Aeroball, which combines volleyball and basketball with trampoline leaps that let you achieve Mario Brothers air times. Rock climbing is also available for those who prefer the traditional pastimes pioneered by our cave-dwelling forefathers. Since Laser Adventure offers convenient weekend hours, arriving early will ensure a full day of laser battling. The laser lair is open by reservation only Monday–Wednesday, but hours may change in the summer.
Though some of Virginia Wine Tours’ staffers swear by Argentinean Malbecs and others favor New Zealand Rieslings, one thing’s certain: they’re all passionate about Northern Virginian wines. These aficionados conduct tours through a sweeping array of vineyards across the region, including the intimate Bluemont Vineyard in Loudon County, the sprawling Gray Ghost Vineyard in Rappahannock County, and the mountainside Naked Mountain Winery in Fauquier County. During these full- and half-day trips, they enlighten groups with local area viniculture facts and anecdotes, as well as encourage them to mix and mingle amongst their fellow wine enthusiasts. Virginia Wine Tours provides tour groups with transportation to and from wineries, sparing customers the inconvenience of having to worry about parking their cars or mastering the art of vehicle levitation.
Boasting muddy obstacles and live gladiators who attempt to slow down competitors with impromptu jousts, the Tough Dash isn’t your average weekend 5K race. As participants trek through mud pits and strength-testing obstacles, microchips track their time, adding a fun competitive edge to the event. The runners aren't the only ones who get to join in the fun, however; spectators are encouraged to soak runners and unfortunate pedestrians who accidentally took a wrong turn with water balloons and water guns. A post-race celebration regales runners with food, beverages, and prizes for the top male and female times and the best costume. Proceeds from this event benefit the Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital.

What makes your business stand out?
Golden Era Motors is a one-of-a-kind business that allows its clients the opportunity to drive and experience classic muscle cars. Our clients get to skip the high price tag and demanding time requirements inherent in owning classic cars and cut straight to the best part: driving them! Our clients are a diverse group: some are 25-year-old adrenaline junkies, others drive our cars as a "bucket list" item, and some are simply nostalgic [and] looking to reconnect with some exceptional examples of "American Muscle."
What inspired you
After years of enjoying my own classic cars, I started this business to share the pride and exhilaration that comes with driving them. Years of observation at car shows and "cruise-ins" revealed many in attendance did not actually own vehicles themselves, yet they had a fond appreciation for them. Golden Era Motors (GEM) allows those same fans a taste of what it's like to be in the game rather than on the sidelines. We want our clients to touch and interact with our classic muscle cars.
What?s your favorite part about your job?
The fringe benefits are tough to argue with! [I love] "test driving" and maintaining the collection.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
We own all of the cars in our collection, and therefore you can be sure they have been properly maintained. We do not rent cars on behalf of private owners or play photography mind games with you. Every photo you see on our website was taken of an actual GEM car.
On the 18 holes of Oak Hills Golf Course, water is in no short supply. At the center of the course lies a large, elongated lake, disjointed in two separate places by arcing bridges. The lake's outreaching arms come into play at six separate areas, swallowing up shanked tee shots, misjudged approaches, or illegal putts made with a corked putter. After completion of the 18th hole, the second of back-to-back par fives, more water awaits, as visitors have the opportunity to take a dip in the clubhouse pool or dump ice water over their own heads in victorious fashion at Amy's Grill.
Course at a Glance: * 18-hole, par 72 course * Total length of 6,483 yards from the back tees * Four sets of tees per hole * Scorecard
