One of the Dayton area's only dedicated fishing instruction, Ohio Fly Fish Guy outfits prospective fishers with all the necessary knowledge and equipment to successfully cast their reels on the open water. Using custom tied flies, reels, rods and equipment, water sportsmen receive the wherewithal to enjoy their relaxing outdoor day. For those who need a little more instruction, Ohio Fly Fish Guy also leads half-day and full day fly-fishing excursions.
Elk Creek Hunt Club sharpens shooting skills and sates hungers with outdoor sporting clay excursions. Like a Gumby-Seagal crossover film, duos traverse 2,500 acres of preserve lands hot on the pursuit of clay targets aboard a two- or four-person golf cart (use of four-person carts is based on availability). Upon arriving at a sporting-clay station, gunslingers prepare to tag fleeing clays as they veer towards the forest-covered or watery horizon. Afterward, hunters can rest their boots inside the Elk Creek Lodge for a hearty meal. The club's lunch menu lists a slew of sandwich and salad options, such as the Angus steak burger with cheese (an $8.95 value), dressed in the traditional garb of lettuce, tomato, and onion, and dinnertime selections include a grilled, 16 oz. rib-eye steak (a $27 value) and a cut of salmon enlivened with a bourbon glaze (a $27 value).
A round of golf on Tanglewood Golf Course's verdant, USGA-rated fairways. A toxin-fighting Himalayan salt stone massage at Edgewater Resort, nestled on the banks of Taylorsville Lake. A fishing trip on the scenic lake itself. Visitors to Taylorsville can try out all these activities and more in the city, aided by Taylorsville Spencer County Tourism, whose team knows all the area's best spots.
Indian Lake Outfitters is the brainchild of outdoors enthusiast Bryan—known as “the buyer” to his staff—and business expert Brenda—who’s known as “the brains”. But the husband and wife team acknowledge that, as long as their daughter Bostyn— “the boss”—is around, they’ll never really be in charge. Together, they maintain a climate-controlled, indoor archery range and stock the shelves of their store with outdoor electronics, clothing, and gear to fulfill customers’ hunting, fishing, camping, and boating needs. Posters line the walls of the archery range, where customers pull back bowstrings and sling arrows at targets, or attempt to shoot metaphorical arrows of love at their dates. Every third Thursday, Indian Lake Outfitters hosts an archery night for women.
Science-fiction fans are eternally disappointed that society hasn't yet developed the technology that would allow them to strap on a jetpack and rocket to their destination. Though Indy Flight Academy & Watersports can't supply you with a futuristic vehicle for the daily commute, it does give extreme-sports enthusiasts the chance to blast off with its Flyboard water-powered jet packs. They've taught 800 students to fly successfully, from ages seven to 65.
The Flyboard—a water board with a pair of boots attached to it—is attached to long hose, which is in turn hooked up to the water jet exhaust of a jet ski. When the jet ski's driver hits the gas, the Flyboard and rider shoot up into the air atop high-powered streams of water. Riders of all ages can then fly around above the water or mimic a dolphin diving in and out.
