When Ed Norice left the United States Navy in search of a new career, he found fresh enemies to battle domestically: obesity and heart disease. He started Impressive Fitness The Jungle to combat these illnesses and give his fellow citizens a path towards healthy lifestyles.
Norice and his two instructors, Aubree and Rodney, draw from a vast repertoire of exercise styles to wage their war. TRX resistance bands force the muscles of the body to work in concert and strengthen the body from head to toe. Martial-arts skills lend a practical edge to every workout, increasing endurance and arming students with basic self-defense techniques. Outside of group classes, the trio offers personal training and nutritional consultation to help prevent clients from making unhealthy choices in their diet, such as eating a whole birthday cake and then eating the cake’s candles.
A wildly successful alternative to traditional day spas?its more than 300 locations blanket 36 states and half a dozen countries?Planet Beach Contempo Spa is a futuristic relaxation station where state-of-the-art machines administer all the spa and tanning services. These friendly automatons sometimes replace familiar treatments, as in the Luminous facial, a light-based service that delivers blemish-busting results similar to those of a conventional facial. But other equipment maps out new spa territory entirely: the hydro-derma fusion chamber moisturizes the whole body with nutrient-rich steam in order to offset the effects of a dry climate or a rear-end collision with a salt truck. Other machines whiten teeth, spray tan skin, and massage muscles.
Planet Beach operates on a gym-style membership system, meaning that members purchase packages or pay flat monthly rates. As members spend more time at the spa, they get to know the helpful assistants who are always on hand to demonstrate how to use the equipment without activating its ability to cry.

Away from this competitive space, Game On's instructors lead group fitness sessions such as boot camps, Zumba fitness, and Go-FX, which builds speed and agility.
One of the country's largest ballet companies, Texas Ballet Theater produces performances that engage and inspire audiences. Attend Ben Stevenson's celebrated version of The Nutcracker, a well-known ballet that explores a dream world of princes, toy soldiers, warring mice, and 40-foot-tall Christmas trees. An orchestra seat inside the high-tech Winspear Opera House, a modern horseshoe theater designed by Pritzker Prize winner Norman Foster, grants great views of the stage as the skilled performers spin through scenes spurred on by Tchaikovsky's score and shiny snowflakes that flutter earthward like a sinking clouds.
