The mid 2000s saw the rise of airsoft, an action sport in which players compete against each other using replica guns and plastic BBs. It became increasingly popular as players discovered the joys of role playing as characters from movies, video games, and real life.
After noticing a dearth of airsoft fields, retired professional paintball player Sonny Pepito decided to open his own indoor facility, Tac City Airsoft, in 2008. Relying on his experience as a player, field operator, and business owner, he created a successful business and managed to open another location. Both of Tac City's fields now welcome about 50,000 visitors each year for public games, private events, and professional tactical training.
Pepito also hopes to develop a realistic, theme-based environment where players can actually become part of the story, much like a 78-year-old who enrolls in high school to learn how to portray a teen on TV.
