Doctor of Chiropractic Stacy Cohen founded First State Health & Wellness shortly after he received his degree from New York Chiropractic College in 1984. Since then, his center has expanded to six locations and welcomed aboard 12 other chiropractic physicians.
Each location features traditional adjustment techniques and Activator tools that rapidly and gently prod trouble spots. A few locations feature specialty techniques such as the Newark location's high-tech subluxation scanning and the Wilmington location's adjustable Thompson Terminal Point table made up of several different cushions that help it morph into an even more therapeutic surface: a ping-pong table.
Dr. Cohen and his staff complement their chiropractic touch with acupuncture, massage, and nutritional counseling services, which are overseen by the center's own licensed acupuncturists and certified massage therapists. Together, the team's collective efforts have been awarded The News Journal's Reader's Choice Award for Best Chiropractic Office in 2010, 2011, and 2012, as well as the BBB's Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics in 2003 and 2009.
In 1996, Drs. Grace Liu and Lewis Yu graduated from dental school and embarked on furthering their education: she completed postgraduate work at Columbia University and he trained in oral surgery at the University of Pennsylvania's hospital. After amassing a wealth of knowledge and experience, the pair married and started All About Smiles.
Their newly renovated ultra-modern clinic boasts cutting-edge technology such as intra-oral cameras, a VELScope for oral-cancer screenings, and sleep apnea screening equipment. With assistance from their friendly and highly-trained staff, the dental duo help clients care for their smiles with a wide range of treatments, ranging from basic cleanings and orthodontic care to oral surgeries and installations of crowns, veneers, bridges, and neuromuscular dentistry.
Anytime Fitness accommodates night crawlers and day denizens with 24-hour access to endless rows of equipment, group fitness classes, and personalized training. Custom regimens rounded out by nutritional advice from a certified trainer make each client feel special, like a diamond the size—and shape—of a horse. Group boot camps, alternatively, promote camaraderie and help participants stave off boredom by presenting a mixed array of drills. The gym's rows of TV-equipped treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary cycles with stair climbers help prepare legs for marathons and broken escalators. Weight machines, dumbbells, and kettlebells enable gym-goers to crank up muscle mass, and an unwinding experience on a massage chair or high-powered tanning bed sends clients off with a sense of relaxation.
Together, the highly trained staffers at Centre for Cosmetic Dentistry have dedicated more than four decades of their lives to improving people's smiles. They insert implants that look almost identical to the real thing for patients with missing teeth, and they apply Lumineers veneers for folks with damaged or discolored smiles. Teeth-whitening treatments are available to add an extra dash of shine. Though they specialize in cosmetic procedures, they're equally adept at general dentistry, including routine exams and cleanings. In order to make patients feel as comfortable and stress-free as possible, they've cultivated a warm, home-like atmosphere—complete with hardwood floors, floral paintings, and actors hired to dress up like your parents.
Dentist and recreational watercolor painter Dr. Jeanette Son brings an artist's aesthetic awareness to the cosmetic and general dentistry practice she founded more than 15 years ago. Backed by a six-person team, Dr. Son enhances pearly whites with smile-beautifying services such as in-office whitening and implants. Her background working with children's dentistry helps her usher baby teeth uneventfully into maturity, and her elegantly executed root canals mitigate chronic mouth pains. To stay abreast of perpetually advancing dental techniques, Dr. Son steadily augments her expertise with continuing-education classes, monthly study clubs, and implant courses. She also caters to a variety of cultures, as she is fluent in Korean.
At Women's Fitness, women of all fitness levels work their entire body during 30-minute fitness routines with the help of experienced trainers and motivating music. During the studio?s signature workout, exercisers breeze through a circuit of cardio intervals and strength-training exercises as an instructor doles out personalized tips and words of encouragement. Participants also cultivate fitter physiques using adjustable hydraulic-resistance machines designed to work two muscles groups at once. Eventually, this approach to quick, effective circuit training helps to increase muscle mass in time, which encourages bodies to melt more calories and pop fudge-dipped thought bubbles before they even penetrate cranial barriers.
