In 2005, a pair of sisters—chiropractor Dr. Anne Marie and aesthetician Christina—put their holistic-centered minds together to create a spa focused on health and relaxation. Peace and tranquility are the main offerings at Vitality, a centre intended to be an oasis for both body and mind. Between blue, lavender, and khaki walls, guests step into slippers and inhale at the aromatherapy bar before taking on relaxing treatments such as facials, massage, or body wraps. Aesthetic services such as nail care, hair removal, and makeup artistry round out the spa's generous menu of treatments. Individual needs inform what types of services the staff recommends for guests, be it an anti-aging facial, dermabrasion skin-renewing treatment, or soothing, massage-based sessions. Memberships, packages, and private parties also create affordable ways to experience Vitality's serene spaces and aesthetic professionalism.
Spending a decade in an office setting takes a toll on the body. In addition to the stresses that come with memorizing all the birthdays of management's pets, bodies are affected by sitting in an office chair for hours on end and staring at a computer screen all day. Amber Dagata finally had enough of this harsh environment after 10 years of working as an office manager and bookkeeper. In 2008, she opened a massage studio, Tranquility Therapeutic Massage, to help others combat their work- and life-related tension.
Customizing each session to a client's particular sore spots is just one way Amber and her staff cater to clientele. They also perform massages for the full length of time, without subtracting the time it takes for a client to complete forms or to take off his or her clothes. Their menu of add-ons includes hot stones, which send warmth into aching muscles, and paraffin waxes, which soothe and soften hands and feet.
Many an aesthetic problem has yielded to Norma Cataldo, the clinical director of Cosmetic Laser Solutions. She has been fixing dermal flaws with noninvasive beams of light for more than 10 years, remedying conditions such as wrinkles, sun spots, cellulite, and spider veins.
At the clinic, she is supported by Dr. Patrick Marasco, a board-certified plastic surgeon. With their combined skills, they are able to treat patients to more invasive procedures in their in-office surgical suite as well as lively harmonies over the intercom system.
Drawing on centuries of practice, the therapists at Super Feet administer deep-tissue and reflexology massages to balance the mind, body, and spirit. Their deep-tissue Asian bodywork sessions target tension in the muscles, and render bodies loose and relaxed, while reflexology treatments use meridians in the feet to align the entire body. The therapists offer a combination deep-tissue/reflexology treatment as well, and all their treatments take place in a comforting studio with plush beds and dim lighting.
