Lex Fitness owner and exercise physiologist Jeff Brown does more than merely lead a class or workout session. With over 12 years of experience under his belt, he and a trio of trainers motivate clients who want transform their lives outside the gym, adopting healthier lifestyles with next-level exercise regimens and good-nutrition. During the complimentary initial consultation with a trainer, clients divulge their fitness goals, from losing weight to defeating a cheetah in a foot race. The trainers then evaluate the client’s medical history and scope out physical terrains with body-fat testing, measurements, and cardio and strength tests. Clients then tackle a fitness plan tailored to their specific needs, building muscles with free weights and strength-training equipment, carving lean physiques in boot-camp classes, and torching calories on cardio machines backed by flat-screen TVs.
All classes take place at a new exercise studio, open seven days a week. With over 20 classes taking place a week at all times of the day, each session involves high-intensity cardio and strength workouts from college-educated trainers. Exercises include lunging, jumping, sprinting, and push-ups.

At dozens of locations across the Midwest and South, members can sculpt their bodies in whichever manner they choose—from personal training with resistance machines and free weights to group classes in cycling, Zumba, and Pilates. A number of group classes draw on the gym’s urban theme for inspiration. Originally founded by a group that includes retired pro boxer Danny Campbell, TITLE Boxing Club offers total-body workouts that blend boxing, kickboxing, and fitness. After donning elastic hand wraps and gloves, students can greet a 100-pound heavy bag with a barrage of kicks, jabs, crosses, hooks, and unkind words. Each of the club's trainers focuses on a different area, such as technicality, core and balance, or moderate- to high-intensity training. Other equipment around the facility includes a boxing ring, speed bags, and double-end bags, as well as free weights and cardiovascular machines.
Safety comes first at Martial Arts USA, where students of all levels practice tae kwon do, judo, jujitsu, and hapkido on official Olympic judo mats. The instructors are led by Grand Master Yeong C. Jeon, a 15th-dan, 25-year teaching veteran. Under Jeon's guidance, the teachers instill physical fitness, self-discipline, respect, and focus to help students of all ages overcome their mental obstacles.
The instructors at Hung Sing Martial Arts practice a form of kung fu known as choy li fut, which blends hand-and-arm techniques, quick footwork, and nimble full-body movements. The speed of the style makes it ideal for martial-arts lessons as well as cardio workouts, enabling participants of all ages to reach personal fitness goals while learning self-defense and discipline.
