Positivity. Simple as it sounds, it's a central pillar of the philosophy behind Jason Yi's Tae Kwon Do College. At each of the school's five locations, the warm, supportive atmosphere starts with the instructors. Sure, they pass along years of martial arts wisdom, but they also strive to help students–younger ones, especially–realize that having fun doesn't necessarily mean sitting in front of a TV, or arguing the legitimacy of the moon landing with an imaginary friend. Through programs for kids, teens, and even entire families, the college's instructors lead students along a path that builds self-confidence and improves self-defense techniques. Instructors build on these same skills in the college's extracurricular offerings, which include after-school programs, birthday parties, and week-long summer camps.
A panel of certified instructors is ready and waiting to instruct students in the ways of balance and coordinated rhythmic motion. Bring a partner to your duo of private lessons, or fly solo and dance with your instructor and a knowing smirk. In either case, you'll leave with a greater understanding of the dance style of your choosing. These lessons are ideal for a range of potential students, from the disgruntled pedestrian looking to never get served again to the fledgling fitness-seeker looking for a fun new way to get shipshape. Stick to a stately waltz, spicy up life with a rumba, or feel vibrant and playful with a few new swing steps for your personal repertoire. Whether you're an experienced dancer hoping to brush up on certain techniques or you have two left feet for feet and two right feet for hands, the lessons at Arthur Murray Dance Studio offer bountiful, dance-based benefits.
WELCOME TO ELITE FITNESS CONCEPTS
Elite Fitness Concepts is dedicated to providing personalized health, fitness, and post-rehab programs as well as an array of Group Exercise classes in a comfortable, non-competitive environment.
This community-focused, flow-based yoga center boasts a plethora of calming to rigorously bendy sessions steeped in the mind-body-spirit trifecta. All fitness levels are welcome, from those only familiar with the sedentary couch pose to those fluent in back-bending crane-warrior stances. Fledgling flexibles can ease into beginners yoga, focusing on fundamental moves and proper alignment, and those with a foundation of supple stretchiness can nonviolently tackle Vinyasa Two, a session concentrated on more vigorous movement linked with sun salutations and hat doffs to the moon. Both the Reston and Great Falls locations offer a variety of classes and class times for pliable aspirants and their limberness-seeking limbs.
The gym itself might be somewhat spartan, but CrossFit North Vienna is set in an exceptionally inspiring environment: it lies right along the scenic W&OD trail. Exercisers who want to maximize their athletic potential and run or handspring through more of the great outdoors simply step inside for one of CrossFit's intense workouts of the day.
Trainer Chris brings backgrounds in wrestling, weightlifting, swimming, and diving to their classes. That makes them very well-suited for CrossFit, which is a never-boring, mad-science mixture of elements taken from many different athletic disciplines. The end goal of all those push-ups, squats, and lifts is functional fitness, helping members become stronger and feel better in all their daily activities.
