Smoothie King co-founder Steve Kuhnau began mixing fruit, nutrients, and proteins in the late 1960s, in a successful attempt to assuage his own health conundrums. By 1973, he’d begun selling vitamins alongside his health-boosting concoctions, and soon, more than 600 Smoothie King locations were operating worldwide. Today, the shop’s patrons customize real apple, mango, and banana smoothies with sundry healthy mix-ins. More than 70 blendable multi-vitamins, minerals, enzymes, nutrients, and amino acids fortify frosty smoothies, helping bodies to stay healthy or lift semi-trucks. Snacks such as veggie chips and high-protein cookies augment shakes in both health and deliciousness.
When customizing a frozen dessert with toppings, many people reach for chocolate chips, sprinkles, or a barrel of whipped cream. Swirlin Twirlin has those classic add-ons in spades—but its toppings selection ventures into unexpectedly gourmet territory, as well. Pomegranates dipped in dark chocolate, bites of cheesecake, and Andes mints join the lineup alongside chilled blackberries, mangos, and watermelon. All of the fresh fruit and crumbled candies are cut daily, and taste-tested by the staff themselves before being added to the bar, which offers more than 50 topping choices.
These add-ons require a foundation, of course. Swirlin Twirlin houses a wall of self-serve machines that fill cups with frozen yogurt in a variety of low-fat, non-fat, and non-dairy flavors. The sweet spirals range from original tart to red velvet, and contain probiotics that aid the "friendly" bacteria that already exist in the digestive system. There are even no-sugar-added flavors, including mango and chocolate, which offer delicious bites without the addition of sucrose.
Ye Olde Christmas and Candy Shoppe, nestled in historic Marietta Square, stocks a selection of nostalgic candies and festive gifts. Saunter up to the candy bar to tempt taste buds with homestyle fudge, imported Belgian chocolates, and sugar-, gluten-, and nut-free chocolates. Retro candy, such as rock candy, Necco wafers, and Gold Rocks nugget gum, brings back the sweet taste of childhood and the memories of watching the other kids eat the candy their parents gave them to show them their love.
The Christmas Shoppe prepares shoppers for upcoming holidays with folk-art Santas by Pat Siskin and Marietta ornaments designed by local artists. Its shelves also house collegiate items and gifts for special occasions such as anniversaries and imaginary friends’ weddings.

Catered kids' tea parties combine the signature sweets with tea and snackable sandwiches.
In 1997, friends Dena Tripp and Debra Shwetz set out to create a luscious, melt-in-your-mouth bundt cake. What began as an endeavor in their own home kitchens soon blossomed into a bustling business with bakeries in 21 states. Rich cocoa browns and soft pastels lend a nostalgic feel to each bakery, where every day ovens warm up cake batter made from fresh eggs, real butter, and cream cheese. Flavors such as chocolate chocolate chip, red velvet, and white-chocolate raspberry are favorite staples, and a new seasonal flavor makes a guest appearance each month. Cakes come in several sizes, from the standard 8- or 10-inch bundt to the single-serving bundtlet and the bite-size bundtini, all crowned with signature cream cheese frosting.
