At Levity Live Comedy Club, renowned comedians such as Kevin Nealon and Susie Essman have graced the same stage as up-and-coming comics including Elliot Chang and Sam Morril. In addition to its live shows and a variety of pub grub and drinks, the club also offers classes through Manhattan Comedy School. Eight-week sessions help fledgling comedians with everything from developing a persona to lightening up a goldfish’s funeral.
At TapHouse Grille, 24 different craft beers gush from taps as plates of gourmet pub fare emerge from the kitchen. Chefs shower pastas and pizzas in fresh meats and vegetables or whip up entrees that feature freshly caught fish and quality cuts of meat. In addition to imported and domestic brews, the family-friendly establishment pleases adults with martinis and cocktails, and it treats tots to a full kids' menu and an absence of height-restrictive carnival rides.
Brick walls and ceilings and glistening wood floors surround the casual dining room, where flat-screen televisions beam down from the walls. TapHouse Grille also hosts special events throughout the week, including a Sunday brunch buffet with a live jazz band.

For more than a decade, Abrakadoodle—a national mobile art-education program that has earned praise from Nickelodeon and other kid-centric organizations—continues to host children's art classes, camps, and parties that help young ones along their learning paths. Bringing art education wherever it’s needed, Abrakadoodle’s team of instructors transforms local spaces, such as community centers, into informative classrooms where students aged 20 months–12 years learn to expand their creativity and imagination. Each age-appropriate class focuses not only on teaching a range of techniques such as painting, foil embossing, and mosaics but is also is designed to help kids build confidence and sharpen academic skills. With those goals in mind, the program determines each child's progress not by what the child creates but rather by what they've learned, which the team calls Process Art.
When not actively inspiring youngsters during art classes, Abrakadoodle’s team offers camps that engage young minds with educational field trips and musical games. The program’s art parties also offer an artistic way to celebrate birthdays, kindergarten graduations, and baby's first time saying the alphabet in pig Latin.
Lakeside Fitness Center has all the makings of your typical gym, but it wears the name “center” with conviction. Members will find everything they want and need to workout—cardio and strength-training machines, free weights, group fitness classes, and the like—supplemented by something else: camaraderie. All members can enroll in a motivating and supportive boot-camp program, designed to push weight-loss and fitness goals into overdrive and build on that sense of solidarity.
Youth boot camp classes use a mix of cross training and cardio to tone muscles, and Piloxing combines Pilates with boxing into a fast-moving workout designed to strengthen the core. Relaxed sighs drift from the center's on-site spa, where therapists and aestheticians provide deep-tissue massages and rejuvenating facials tailor-made to fit the needs of men, women, and teens.
