A veteran shutterbug, Victorya Poole gleaned experience from three studios before opening her own shop in May, 2009. Today, she immortalizes subjects of all ages and species, from newborns to families to German shepherds. Clients can schedule shoots in the controlled, professionally lit environment of Victorya's studio or at a scenic location of their choice.
When the photographer of Dallas Boudoir wants clients to feel sexy, they head to the bedroom—or an empty power station. Many of their shoots take place at Off The Grid, a spacious building that used to supply electricity to the city's street lights. Now, its exposed bricks and industrial feel provide a unique backdrop for sultry poses. Some snapshots even take place on the rooftop, where subjects show off their favorite lingerie ensembles in front of the soaring skyline.
Other shoots typically occur in a home or hotel suite. Regardless of the locale, however, the photographer aims for the perfect balance of comfort, classiness, and sensuality. The photographer guides clients through flattering poses and carefully retouches the images to provide the quality of photos you might find in a magazine or a romance-novel flipbook. The pictures instill confidence in women of all body types, and, when arranged into DVD slideshows and customized books, they easily become gifts for significant others.
Roseann Wilson, owner of Fabric Rows Design House, fills her store with designer fabric from Waverly, Laura Ashley, and Ralph Lauren available at wholesale prices. After a lamp-design consultation ($45), store designers devise custom table or floor lamps from clients' vases, pottery, glassware, and spun sugar busts of Mary Tyler Moore. Lighting wizards can also update an antique or vintage lamp ($18), replace a broken socket ($18), or perform a complete rewiring ($26.99). In addition, clients may opt to have couches and chairs reupholstered with store fabric available by the yard or a velvet tracksuit torn from a defeated rival. Soft lighting brightens the intimate store space, and a gallery of past work adorns the walls for crafty customers to peruse for inspiration.
Oversized sunglasses, flowery leis, bright beaded necklaces—partygoers can try all of these on for size while getting their pictures taken in a Drama Llama Productions photo booth. An expert attendant accompanies the booth to the event to set it up and assist guests in photo-taking. Prints emerge in 7.5 seconds, so that revelers can get back to the party in no time. You can even upload pics immediately to Facebook, so that everyone you know can see how much fun you’re having at the party they weren’t invited to.
