Q&A with Terry Hoggatt, Part Owner/manager

What is one of your most popular offerings? How is it prepared?
Our fudge and caramel apples are always popular and you can watch them being made. We make the fudge Mackinaw Island–style, which means it is cooked in a copper kettle and poured onto a marble slab table, where it is paddled to creamy perfection. Our fudge sampler has six fudge flavors and is perfect for a family gathering or party. The granny smith apples are crisp and delicious and covered in our homemade caramel. We offer chocolate-covered strawberries every Friday and by special order any day.

Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
As we make most items in house, we can personalize them to meet your needs. We do gift baskets, wedding favors, party trays, and custom-molded chocolates.

In your own words, how would you describe your menu?
We offer three kinds of yummy treats: made-in-store fudge, corns, brittles, caramels, and chocolate-dipped treats. We also carry Kilwins fine case chocolates. To round out our offerings, we have 34 flavors of creamy Kilwins original recipe ice cream.

It's all in the name. From formal tiered wedding cakes to colorful fondant racecars, the bakers at Cakes for All Occasions construct a smattering of sweet creations for special events. Neatly lining pastry cases, cupcakes dress up in whimsical flavor combinations such as chocolate-covered banana, neapolitan, and periwinkle crayon. To round out the confectionary's roster of saccharine edibles, the staff whips up sheet cakes, cookies, and brownies, which are named for their color, like goldfish and macaroni ‘n’ cheese.

Almond poppy seed bread drenched in orange glaze. Carrot cake chock-full of walnuts and cream cheese. Shortbread coated in pecans and peach preserve. These handcrafted goodies share one key element in common, aside from deliciousness: no gluten.

Retaining the taste of classic baked goods with the use of gluten-free ingredients is the primary goal of Sinfully Gluten-Free owner Heather Zook. She's achieved it according to the Dayton City Paper, which lauds her cakes as "just as good, if not even more sticky and fudgy, than you’d find in any non-gluten-free bakery." The paper likewise praises Sinfully Gluten-Free's pizza, which cooks top with ingredients such as a house blend of pizza sauce and Sweet Baby Ray's barbecue sauce.
