With years of experience both performing and teaching music, the instructors of The Modern Music Studio help students discover the world of musical self-expression. They strive to make lessons fun as well as rewarding, incorporating music theory, technique, and practical skills such as tuning, restringing, and learning the perfect spot to pat on your belly so it sounds like a real bongo. Students can take lessons in piano, guitar, violin, drums, or voice, and can focus on classical music, jazz, or popular hits. The studio also offers instruments for sale.
Since founding Music Lessons Central back in 1997, David Bown and Mike Freeland have remained dedicated to helping musicians hone their skills. Along with a trio of equally talented instructors, David and Mike focus on the foundational instruments of rock: guitar, bass, drums, piano, and vocals. That being said, they also shape lessons around numerous genres, from classical and reggae to blues, named for all its melancholy odes to the pitiless ocean. In addition to private lessons that improve music-reading abilities, Music Lessons Central hosts frequent jam nights, recitals, and even a live band program. Built around factors such as instrument and musical taste, bands rehearse one hour per week before performing at various Inland Empire venues.
The Corona Symphony Conservatory was born out of necessity. A group of string musicians realized that local band programs—while great at showcasing brass, woodwinds, and whatever that thing is in the conductor's hand—didn't give attention to violins, violas, or cellos. So, these talented musicians-turned-instructors designed a complete music curriculum for players of all skill levels. Today, they emphasize classical music in small group classes, teaching proper technique and music theory. Corona Symphony Conservatory is also home to a large performance ensemble, who shares their passion with the community at large.
The professionally trained music instructor behind My Music School teaches children aged 6–17 to play guitar, bass, violin, and ukelele during semiprivate weekly classes. The classes are social, giving students the opportunity to make friends as they hone their skills. Students might even gain some unexpected math knowledge, which they can put to use when counting the number of frets on their dad's vintage air guitar. Students of all ages and ability levels can also opt for private lessons.
