Originally founded as the Seattle Pilots in 1969, the Milwaukee Brewers have brought Major League Baseball to Wisconsin since 1970. The team played its first 30 seasons at Milwaukee County Stadium; Miller Park opened its gates in 2001, featuring field dimensions mapped out by legendary Brewer Robin Yount. Today, up to 41,900 fans pack into Miller Park to cheer on their home team as well as The Famous Racing Sausages and Bernie the Brewer, who soars down his iconic slide to celebrate home runs or cheer himself up after burning popcorn inside his elevated left-field clubhouse.

Typically, it takes months to prepare for a marathon. Without proper endurance training, most marathon runners falter miles before the finish line. Hapilly, the Chicago Beerathon pays nothing but lip service to its -athon suffix, and there are really only a few things a prospective contestant needs to know. First, get a good night's rest beforehand. Second, don't bother pre-gaming, there's enough buzz to go around. Third, don't bother stretching or practicing a victory face—it's not really a competition. And finally, keep some cab fare on hand for afterwards, because at the Chicago Beerathon, every participant is a designated drinker.

Starting at noon and ending at 3 a.m., the Chicago Beerathon is springtime in October for fans of hops, barley, malt, and hiccups. Spiraling out from Wrigleyville to 26 of the city's most joyous venues, beer fans savor 6 ounce pours of craft brew at every stop. With music from live bands and DJs soundtracking the slurry quest, revelers end up with 26 beers in their gullets, leaving only 73 verses of "99 Beers on the Wall" to go.

Chicagoland Baseball Academy's 5,000-square-foot training facility reverberates with the clink of balls ricocheting off aluminum bats, the pop of pitches hurtling into practice nets, and the cries of ?Got it!? from fielders communicating a pop fly. Owned by longtime baseball trainer and high-school head coach Bill Rosencrans, the Academy helps players improve their games through lessons that isolate essential skills such as power throwing and executing double plays. To ensure each athlete plays to his or her full potential, classes also focus on regular core training, using ropes, medicine balls, and plyometrics to keep bodies in top shape.
