Sol D'Licious Caf?'s owners, Dama and Lamar, have been vegetarian for the last two decades, and vegan for the last five years. Their commitment to all-natural food?and Head Chef Aaron Webb's Le Cordon Bleu training?shine through in the caf?'s menu. The meat-free eats range from a black-bean burger topped with spinach, guacamole, and tomato slices to bowls of hearty vegan chili. Webb experiments with raw plates, too, such as a ginger-infused cabbage slaw. Funky juices wash down meals, including the sunset-hued blend of orange, carrot, and sweet-potato juices.
Named for the main river running through Venezuela, Orinoco Fitness is a studio that aims to be as relaxing as a day out in nature. Owner Ana Santos Gitzinger, a native Venezuelan, styled the studio in a way that evokes the beauty of her homeland. The walls of Orinoco Fitness are splashed with images of South American waterfalls, mountains, and rainforests in order to help clients “shake off the Midwestern wintertime blues.” Above all, Gitzinger wants her clients to achieve fitness in an environment that’s fun and relaxing. In keeping with the stress-free atmosphere, students are encouraged to relax with a cup of tea in the lounge area after each yoga, Zumba, or Pilates class.
The coaches at Gym Spot have trained several award-winning state and regional gymnasts, as well as recreational gymnasts. However, they also train babies. Their curriculum covers classes for children as young as 12 months, as they believe that a gymnastics education develops universal life skills, not just the ability to win medals.
