In a Nutshell

Dark fairy tale follows happy bride whose soul unexpectedly switches with old man’s, forcing her husband to reconsider meaning of love

The Fine Print

Like the chalk line down the middle of feuding siblings’ bedroom floors, the line between comedy and tragedy is thin and can lead to melodramatic outbursts if crossed by mistake. Watch as the pros cautiously tread the boards with today's GrouponLive deal: for $20, you get two tickets to see Prelude to a Kiss at Sunset Playhouse in Elm Grove (up to a $40 value). All seats are first-come, first-served general admission. The show runs Thursday, October 13–Sunday, October 30 on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m., with an additional performance on Wednesday, October 26, at 7:30 p.m. October 13 and 26 are discount nights with tickets selling for $10, so plan ahead to get the best deal.

Since 1960, the nonprofit Sunset Playhouse has grown and flourished alongside the community who helped build it, paying them dividends in lively musicals and family-friendly classics. In Craig Lucas’s Prelude to a Kiss, Rita and Peter’s seemingly perfect wedding takes a turn as unexpected as the end of Titanic, when a mysterious old man interrupts the celebration to request a kiss from the bride. The gesture causes their souls to trade places, leaving Peter to unknowingly take a total stranger on a honeymoon. As the groom realizes his error, he seeks out his beloved, who is now trapped in an aged body, forcing the couple to navigate through unexpected challenges involving commitment, physical appearance, and arguments over how much to tip at Denny's.

Though the Sunset Playhouse sells senior and student tickets for $16, this Groupon still offers the best deal available.

The Groupon Guide to: Ancient Rome

Though many of us have heard familiar historical phrases such as "Friends, Romans, countrymen," or "Rome (If You Want To)," very few people know about ancient Rome itself. What is there to know about this once mighty civilization?

  • Ancient Rome was founded by twin brothers raised by a wolf, who named them Remus and Romulus—now recognized as the wolf-language translation of Timmy and Jimmy.

  • Like all massive ventures, Rome was constructed in approximately one day.

  • The vomitorium was actually a passage beneath the tiered seats of an amphitheater—it facilitated a convenient means of exiting quickly, and it is still in use in modern stadiums. It is not whatever you were picturing. I’m disappointed, too.

  • Colosseum battles only included giant scorpions on the emperor's birthday.

  • Ancient Rome was originally just called Rome.
