Creating a masterwork of art can be like wandering through a maze: after a lengthy period of self-reflection and contemplation, you’ll still probably starve. Appreciate transcendent joys of artistic creativity without starving with today’s Groupon: for $22, you get a three-hour painting class at Brushes n' Bottles (a $45 value). Valid for classes Monday through Thursday, your Groupon is good at one of two locations: the Motion Dynamics Building in Arabi or on Fifth Street in Gretna.
To create a casual, friendly atmosphere, Brushes n' Bottles allows students to sip wines they've brought to class while they deftly wield their brushes. Choose an evening or afternoon event, and use acrylic paints to bring to life a bright, contemporary masterpiece. Classes often feature locally themed designs. Paint shutters in the French Quarter, a proud crawfish, or the beach. Brushes n' Bottles provides all art materials in addition to offering corkscrews and ice buckets. After you're finished painting and partying, you'll have a canvas suitable for framing above the fireplace or nailing onto the fridge.
Classes from Monday through Thursday are offered at both locations from 6:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m., and at the Gretna location from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Call to schedule your class at least 24 hours in advance, and if you miss out on a design you love, Brushes n' Bottles offers repeat designs over the course of the year.
Must be 15 years or older, and accompanied by an adult if under 18. Not valid for private parties.
Groupon Says
Portrait of the Artist as a Drunk Man
Did you know that different libations help create different works of art? Here are some examples:
Wine: A picture of a nice farm landscape without any judgmental mothers or teenage quarry mishaps
Beer: A play about a corvette—no—two corvettes
Rum: A sculpture on your ex's lawn made from hair, naked G.I. Joes, and fire
Scotch: A series of avant-garde phone calls to Jeff Bridges
