Nola Swing

Dancer, vocalist, and instructor Jayna Morgan reanimates the music and dance of the mid-20th century through private swing lessons, group classes, workshops, and performances with the Sazerac Sunshine Band. Rug-cutting sessions guide students through the finer points of the jitterbug, the lindy hop, and the charleston, and dalliances with the balboa and the collegiate shag dig into deeper cuts of rug. Jayna's regular musical performances with her band fill venues in New Orleans and across the country with smooth vocal stylings; local appearances of The Frenchmen Street Flappers transport viewers back to a time when the only way to hail a cab was to dance the charleston on a street corner.
