Invert Sports transforms lakes into watery playgrounds with rentals of waverunners, powerboats, wakeboards, and water skis. The duo of Yamaha Waverunners seat three apiece for a morning or afternoon spent carving fast-fading wake graffiti into the surface of pristine lakes. Equipped with an 1100 cc engine, each waverunner is strong enough to pull wakeboarders, reach a top speed of 45 mph, or win a match of tug-of-war with up to three mermen. The Mastercraft X-30 powerboat seats up to 16 passengers and boasts enough storage space to stable a herd of wakeboards, kneeboards, and water skis. Boaters feel the wind in their hair as the powerboat's V-hull design cuts through rough water, leaving a pristine wake for tubers or misplaced members of the U.S. Olympic waterski team. A 6-inch display screen informs the driver of speed, remaining fuel, and the temperature, allowing passengers to relax and enjoy music pumped through on-board speakers from any portable MP3 player or speaker-ready a capella group.

Both the waverunners and the powerboat are tow-away rentals, which allow customers with a 2-inch towing hitch to ferry the watercraft to any legal water body including the nearby east valley lakes or the oversized pool of a vacationing neighbor. Though not included in today's deal, Invert Sports also rents wakeboards ($35), water skis ($35), tube packages ($30), and other water toys.

Invert Sports lists a half-day Mastercraft X-30 boat rental on their site for $625, this price is for locations other than Apache Junction.

The Groupon Guide to: Temperature Scales

To determine whether a soft drink is cool enough to put out a small mouth fire or hot enough to melt restrictive pants into billowing shorts, scientists turn to one of their many temperature scales. Here's a look at the most popular hierarchies of heating:

Fahrenheit: The only temperature scale grand enough for the wide-open land of freedom we call the U.S. of A. Using this commonsense scale, water boils at 212 degrees—212 being the exact number of minutes you can stick your hand in boiling water for before it starts to hurt.

Celsius: Named after St. Celsion, patron saint of apocryphal headache remedies, this illogical scale has water freeze at 0 degrees and boil at 100 degrees, even though 100 has twice as many zeroes in it as the number 0 does, so if anything, 100 degrees should be twice as cold as 0 degrees.

Kelvin: In the Kelvin scale, absolute zero refers to the temperature at which all thermal motion ceases. The only thing that can withstand this extreme temperature is the cold heart of a man whose will to live has been extinguished by a lifetime of regret and sadness, a.k.a. all men.

McKinley: Named after President William McKinley, who routinely governed with such musings as "I'm too hot to president today," and "I'm cold. Let's invade my fireplace with an army of grahamed crackers and marshed mallows." On this scale, 100 degrees is the temperature at which the Spanish-American War breaks out.
