When the Ukrainian Easter egg you painted in the second grade finally explodes, fill the creative void with longer-lasting art. Today's Groupon pats your inner painter on its outer back with $25 worth of self-painted pottery at Mind Over Splatter in Chandler for $10. Continue the evolution in your artistic odyssey and create a masterpiece that will leave you more excited than a Pygmalion standing before his pristine statue. Gather your friends and throw a creativity jamboree or give your kids the freedom to express their love of fallen teen idols with paint.

Reconnect to the nostalgia of childhood with an interactive art-crafting process. All you have to do is walk through the front doors (located in the historic downtown streets), choose the ceramic piece that speaks to your passion, and take your time decorating with a variety of paints, stamps, patterns, stencils, and friendly advice from the helpful staff. When your masterpiece is complete, leave it at the shop where nighttime elves will toast your pottery in a fire kiln and have the finished, shiny product ready for you in four to seven days. Supplies, kiln firing, and studio time cost a flat $7, and the ceramic pieces that act as your canvas range from $7 to $65. Paint and burn a coffee mug ($10-$15) that everyone in the office will want to swipe from the communal sink, or personalize a piggy bank with painted images of football players tackling cars (up to $16).

Even if you have spent the last 12 years of your life painting ceramics, a host of other projects await you. Expand your creative painting prowess by designing a custom-decorated chalkboard, or style your own expansive mosaic to cover the hole in the wall where there was once a phone and, before that, a giant box of saltines.

February's schedule is chock full of open hours and special ceramic offerings for Valentine's Day, so you have plenty of options to let your creativity run wild like a poorly coached Olympic track athlete. Paint a loverly valentine heart or rose-covered water bowl for that special someone who subtly forced his or her way into your life. It is a well-known fact that significant others love homemade gifts 167% more than used computer keyboards that are missing the U, M, backspace, and Ctrl keys.

Mind Over Splatter is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturdays from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. This Groupon applies to all services and products except fused glass and party packages.

Groupon Says

Deborah, the Pottery Horse

The world's most critically and commercially successful potter is Deborah, the pottery horse. A Bavarian Warmblood who lives in Upstate New York, Deborah was first recognized as a unique talent when her owner walked into her home pottery studio to find 25 gorgeous, unaccounted for pieces in the kiln. Naturally, Deborah's owners at first blamed the pottery on playful ghosts, but the dried clay on Deborah's hooves soon revealed the truth.

In addition to being a famous potter, Deborah is also the world's most famous horse magician, horse architect, and horse horse trainer. Although Deborah cannot talk, she is able to communicate by walking in pre-determined patterns that correspond to alphabet letters. In an interview with Pottery Monthly, she walked, "Lesser talents amuse me, in the way that sickness amuses a dog. The dog is unable to comprehend, yet he laughs nonetheless."
