Choose a class from the Interntional Cooking Series and dabble in the cuisine of Thailand, Indai, Morocco, or Spain. Learn how to make pierogies both traditional and exotic in the pierogie-making class. Brush some butter on your piecrust game in a beginners' pastry class. And when the Easter Bunny climbs down the chimney this year, greet him with extra-savory ham after taking copious notes at the holiday-themed dinner class. The full schedule of classes is available online, with new classes added regularly.

Gaynor Grant began her kitchen quest nearly 30 years ago, graduating from the prestigious Peter Kump's New York Cooking School. An established chef, Gaynor has published recipes at a rate that is only rivaled by the number of puff pastry imposters escorted out of her family gatherings. Since 1994, her school has produced restaurant owners and caterers while remaining accessible to students of all skill levels and interests.

Reviews

KDKA Channel 2 has featured Gaynor Grant of Gaynor’s School of Cooking (formerly Sweetwater Cooking), the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review has quoted Gaynor’s expertise, and one Yelper gives Gaynor’s School of Cooking five stars:

  • My boyfriend bought me two classes at Gaynor's School of Cooking for my birthday and we had so much fun taking them together! We took a Taste of Moroccan and Taste of Greece class. The classes are hands on: you actually cook all of the items. This, for me, is the best way to learn and I feel that I did learn a lot at Gaynor's, including new recipes and new techniques. I also really had a lot of fun, mingling with the other students and the instructor and eating delicious food. I highly recommend this school and feel that it's the perfect gift! – M B., Yelp

Groupon Says

Don't Bother Cooking

Cooking your own food is by far the least practical approach to dealing with hunger. It's time consuming, it might make your clothes dirty, and without the Colonel's 11 secret herbs and spices, your food is guaranteed to taste like the air inside a tennis ball. Here are some superior methods for getting the nutrients you need:

Foraging: Food, unlike money or new organs, actually grows on trees! Fruits, vegetables, honey, and tuna can all be found growing naturally in our country's many public orchards. Mother Nature always provides for those who take good care of her, so as you shoelessly roam the land selling copies of your sequel to the Constitution, be sure to bury all your refuse as an offering of thanks to her.

Tame Your Hunger: "Hunger" is merely a feeling, not a medical state, that your body uses to tempt you into drinking that jar of honey-mustard sauce. Use meditation to control your hunger pangs. You'll eat less, and you can get any nutrients your body "needs" to "stay alive" by licking a variety of wild rocks.

Join the Raw Food Movement: Save the time you've been wasting on warming up your pit of hot cooking sand by eating raw foods! Carrots, bananas, and all meats are nutritious and natural foods that require no cooking whatsoever. Bonus tip: Glass marbles are the M&Ms of raw food. Outstanding!
