In an American Revolution–themed space, The American Coffee Shop serves more than 60 varieties of coffees from local master roaster Prestogeorge and european hot chocolate alongside breakfast and lunch eats. The simple menu centers around salads and specialty sandwiches, such as the American hero—ham, turkey, and roast beef with your choice of cheese and condiments toasted on a torpedo roll ($6.50)—or the Breakfast sandwich, featuring an egg with your choice of cheese and ham, bacon, or sausage on bread, a bagel, or a croissant ($5.50). The shop's Facebook page also lists daily soup and beverage specials. Leatherbound chairs, hardwood floors, and walls bedecked with Stars and Stripes invite long afternoons of studying, sipping, and socializing. While remembering the Colonial era, guests can bask in the glow of the roaring fireplace and reap the rewards of the natural rights of man: free WiFi access.
