Without coffee, society would literally crumble under the weight of unsound buildings erected by dozing construction workers and unfocused architects. Today's Groupon helps buttress the fragile social fabric: for $5, you get $10 worth of coffee and café fare at The American Coffee Shop, in Greensburg.

In an American Revolution–themed space, The American Coffee Shop serves more than 60 varieties of coffees from local master roaster Prestogeorge and european hot chocolate alongside breakfast and lunch eats. The simple menu centers around salads and specialty sandwiches, such as the American hero—ham, turkey, and roast beef with your choice of cheese and condiments toasted on a torpedo roll ($6.50)—or the Breakfast sandwich, featuring an egg with your choice of cheese and ham, bacon, or sausage on bread, a bagel, or a croissant ($5.50). The shop's Facebook page also lists daily soup and beverage specials. Leatherbound chairs, hardwood floors, and walls bedecked with Stars and Stripes invite long afternoons of studying, sipping, and socializing. While remembering the Colonial era, guests can bask in the glow of the roaring fireplace and reap the rewards of the natural rights of man: free WiFi access.

Reviews

The Setonian featured The American Coffee Shop, and four Yahoo! Travelers award the business a perfect average of five stars:

  • Upon entering, one feels relaxed and inspired by the hard wood floors, sweet scent of coffee and the colonial American atmosphere. There is plenty of space for everyone to sit and be comfortable. – Erin Mullen, Setonian
  • I'll just say this, the woman behind the counter took the time to explain to you what the coffee were and what their flavor was like. This demonstrates two things, one they know their product and two, you are getting the kind of service that you rarely find in a genuine manner. – KT, Yahoo! Travel

The Groupon Guide to: Skincare

Dermatologists are eager to convince people that proper skincare is important. But like all doctors, dermatologists are paid based on the total weight of their patients (this is why pediatricians are often very poor) and only want to get more people in their offices. So what is skin? And why should you care?

  • Skin, the Latin word for dermis, was first discovered in 1963 by Spanish scientists looking for a way to turn bones into gold.
  • Like all organs, skin will produce church music when wind blows through it.
  • The vast majority of your skin is covered in destiny-foretelling birthmarks. Learning to read them accurately will ruin your life.
  • A few spiders hatching out of your skin every once in a while isn't a bad thing.
  • Skin is 44% water, making it safe to drink.
